  • 🌟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲: 𝐀 𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 🌟 Australia has unveiled the long-awaited National Autism Strategy (2025–2031), marking a transformative step towards a society that truly includes and empowers Autistic people. This $42 million investment, co-designed with Autistic people and allies, sets a clear vision for an inclusive future aligned with international human rights. At Co-Hive, we see this as a pivotal moment to align our mission with a national framework that prioritises social inclusion, economic inclusion, diagnosis, services, and mental health. The strategy highlights areas we’re passionate about – enabling meaningful transitions, fostering independence, and building pathways for success. Yet, as we celebrate this milestone, important questions remain: 🔑 What is the plan for accessible housing? Independence starts with stable and suitable housing, yet the strategy offers limited detail on practical solutions. Co-Hive’s Steps to Independent Living program is addressing this head-on, helping young adults navigate housing options and build the skills needed to live independently. 💬 How will Autistic voices continue to shape implementation? Self-determination is key, and we need to ensure Autistic people remain at the centre of decisions about their futures, not just during planning stages but throughout the rollout of these initiatives. We’re also considering: 📚 How can education systems better align with this strategy? Many Autistic young adults face challenges transitioning from school to meaningful post-school pathways. The focus on economic inclusion is promising, but will it address the critical gaps in education and transition planning? 🤝 How do we ensure accountability and measurable outcomes? The strategy’s success will depend on strong collaboration across sectors and consistent evaluation of its impact. How will progress be tracked to ensure these goals translate into real-world outcomes? At Co-Hive, we remain optimistic and committed to playing an active role in supporting these initiatives. By fostering self-determination, creating inclusive programs, and working alongside families, we aim to bridge the gaps and empower our participants to achieve remarkable outcomes. Congratulations to all involved in making this strategy a reality – it’s a positive step forward and a foundation we can build upon! Let’s work together to make this vision a reality.
