Helping community media connect with others and share knowledge through independent radio, television and digital.

About us

Every Australian has a unique story to tell – the Community Broadcasting Foundation helps share these stories. Each year we grant more than $19.9 million so community broadcasting organisations can share information and stories with people around the country through independent radio, television and digital media. From major cities to remote communities, our grants inspire people to create and support local, independent media. Our funding helps connect people across the country, including nearly 6 million people who tune in to their local radio station weekly. Through broadcasters and with the help of generous donations, the Community Broadcasting Foundation is a champion of independent media, diversity, multiculturalism and social justice. We work tirelessly every day to achieve our vision, ‘A voice for every community – sharing our stories’. We support all areas of community media including Indigenous, ethnic, regional and radio reading (RPH).

Updates

  • 🎉Introducing the new look of the Community Broadcasting Foundation! For four decades, the CBF has been community media’s biggest supporter. The sector we serve has grown and evolved significantly in that time, and so have we. A part of this evolution is our new aesthetic - a refreshed visual identity that reflects our contemporary grant-making practices and continued support for a dynamic and creative sector. Community is at the heart of what we do and how we help community media thrive. In our new logo, you'll find a radio wave in ‘Community’, reflecting our vision of community broadcasting at the heart of every community. Featuring soft gradients and splices of colour, our refreshed colour palette together with varying angles and direction of the gradient speak to the dissemination of information through different voices and the diversity of local stories, news and cultural content that our funding helps to produce.
