If you want to get ahead It's important to take control of your career rather than expecting that doing a good job by itself will see you get there. The sooner you actively manage your career, the better off you'll be in both the short and long term. Start by identifying where you are in your career and what gaps you need to fill. Use this insight to set specific goals that will help you advance within your current company, or if that's not possible, guide your job search to find a role that does move you forward. Always think a few steps ahead, keeping your bigger picture in mind. If salary is your main motivator, that's fine - just make sure you're also taking the time to build the skills that increase your value for the long term. Sometimes, it’s worth accepting a lower salary if it helps you achieve other career goals, like working for certain companies or gaining experience on specific projects, which will ultimately lead to a higher salary. Stay focused on what you're after, and everything else will fall into place. #ConstructionPeople
