In collaboration with AIME, we’re proud to launch four workshops and a professional learning course designed to help educators shift from traditional teacher-student dynamics to mentor-mentee relationships, unlocking relational potential, bridging cultural gaps and nurturing collective and individual imagination within the classroom. The workshops empower young people to design their dream learning spaces, explore the importance of goal setting, become comfortable in learning through failure and learn from and with local knowledge holders. The professional learning course equips educators with strategies for understanding, connecting with, and teaching all students, with a focus on First Nations students. It also explores the core values of mentoring. It’s been an honour collaborating with AIME to create these impactful resources—together, we’re reimagining education and mentorship. It was incredible to see Cool.org's general manager, Hamish Curry, present 5 sessions at the ReimaginED conference at Woodleigh School. In the session on 'Regenerating Education for the Circular Economy', participants took on roles as key stakeholders in a community and curriculum simulation. They identified focus areas within the circular economy and brainstormed practical steps to address them, emphasising small actions to engage students and embed these concepts in teaching. In the 'Regenerative Hope' session, researchers from Harvard Graduate School of Education highlighted their latest work in framing how we can experience hope in tackling climate change and responding to educators' concerns about youth impact. Hamish introduced Cool.org’s Hope and Act Frameworks, aligned with this research, to help teachers integrate manageable, hope-inspiring climate actions into the curriculum. Congratulations again to Hamish Curry for inspiring and helping so many educators.
ReimaginED does it again. A conference that's genuine, inviting, and aspirational - with an incredible setting at Woodleigh School, the expert curation of Dr Richard Owens FRSA, and a mix of people and ideas that are there to push boundaries. It was a busy one this year, with 4 sessions to run - and the 2023 idea for a mash-up with Tara Merks proved to be a great one, exploring 'Regenerating Education for the Circular Economy'. Split into three interconnected sessions, first auditing the potential stakeholders and programs, then generating ideas for action planning, and finally reflecting on next steps, these highlighted the simple things we can all do in our communities to shift our focus in consumption and production. I was so thrilled to then present a session with Lydia Cao, PhD and Isabella Capeci on 'Regenerative Hope'. Attendees were some of the first people to see the outcomes of this research from the Harvard 'Next Learning Lab' alongside our own Cool.org Hope and Act Frameworks. In a world beset by wicked problems, we need to develop our hope literacy so that we might develop the resilience and collective will to navigate a shared future with our planet. And of course at ReimaginED, there are no small conversations - wonderful to cross paths with Lottie Dowling Dean Pearman Matthew Esterman 🧔🏻Cameron Paterson Jessamy Gee Adriano Di Prato Nicola Morrish Thea Stinear ✨ Ingrid Staggard Jack Greig Dr Kevin House, FCCT, FRSA Nicholas Conigrave Kim Shore

We are so excited to hear about the Global Climate Literacy Competitions run by Green Guardians and wanted to share it with you all! 🌍🌱 This competition is free for all schools and the series kicks off in Q4 2024, empowering students to connect, compete and make a difference for our planet. Through engaging games, students will learn about Climate Science, Biodiversity, Climate Resilience and Circular Economies. They hope to expand the competition and, among other things, invite the competition series winners in Q4 2025 to a climate literacy session in the RIFT VALLEY in Kenya. This visit will both celebrate Kenya’s advancements in climate literacy and great natural beauty and serve as a reflective event that ties together the beginnings and future of human beings on earth.
