🌟 Expanding Access to Urgent Care in Hervey Bay 🌟 The new Hervey Bay Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is now open, providing fully bulk-billed, walk-in urgent care for Fraser Coast residents and visitors. This service addresses a critical gap, ensuring timely care for non-life-threatening conditions while supporting the broader health system by easing pressure on local emergency departments. 🎉 This week, Country to Coast, QLD CEO Julie Sturgess joined Treasurer Jim Chalmers MP and Senator Anthony Chisholm to officially open the clinic. Operated by ForHealth Group and funded by Country to Coast through the Australian Government’s PHN program, this initiative reflects our commitment to working with local health services to ensure better health outcomes for the Fraser Coast community. Importantly, the Medicare Urgent Care Clinic complements existing primary care services by providing an alternative for urgent, non-routine health needs when a regular GP appointment is not immediately available. 🌟 Supporting youth mental health on the Sunshine Coast   We’re thrilled to announce that headspace Caloundra is now open, providing young people aged 12 to 25 with much-needed support for mental health, physical health, alcohol and other drugs, and work and study assistance.   This milestone is a testament to the collaboration between the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, Country to Coast, QLD, Lives Lived Well, and headspace. $3.8 million boost to strengthen community resilience in the face of natural disasters As Queenslanders turn their hand to preparations for the upcoming natural disaster season, Country to Coast, QLD and Australian Business Volunteers (ABV) are celebrating a $3.8 million boost for the three-year Resilient Care Program, received from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) through the Disaster Ready Fund. The Resilient Care Program aims to reduce the negative health impacts of disasters in four local government areas across Wide Bay and Central Queensland. Over the next three years, Resilient Care will tap into under-utilised community resources, such as neighbourhood centres, community groups, local businesses, and primary health providers, like GPs and pharmacies, to integrate these skills and assets into existing disaster management efforts.
