It’s a tough time to be a car dealer in Australia. Competition is fierce, costs are increasing, and there's change everywhere you look. While you can't control all of the big picture factors at play, you *can* control the experience you offer your customers. We have some customer research here, to help retailers get a greater sense of common pain points. There’s a gap between customer expectations and satisfaction across several key areas: 1️⃣ 84% of respondents say it's crucial to minimise misrepresentation of vehicles online, yet 43% said they were satisfied. 2️⃣ 88% of respondents specifically emphasise the importance of receiving “fair advice” about a vehicle, yet satisfaction was 55%. 3️⃣ Only 42% of respondents said they were satisfied with their trade-in offer, despite 80% stating this was an area of importance to them. 4️⃣ 81% of respondents said it was of key importance to avoid discomfort in sales-person interactions, but 47% deemed their experience satisfactory. 5️⃣ 84% of respondents said they wanted a large number of high quality photos for a vehicle listing, but 68% considered themselves satisfied. 6️⃣ Nearly three-quarters (72%) of respondents said they wanted to minimise time with sales-people during test drives, yet 50% said they were satisfied. So what are some actions? More accurate vehicle listings. Sales people graded on customer experience. Third-party assessments or historical trade-in values. Investment in capturing image and video assets of listings. Facilitating test drives on customer terms.
