Empowering diverse teams and building practical, real-world skills – that’s exactly what our team delivering the Tunnels South section of the Victorian Government’s Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Project is doing via its 🔧Tools of the Trade Industry Development Program🔧. Delivered by CPB Contractors as part of Suburban Connect and in partnership with Suburban Rail Loop Authority and Victorian Tunnelling Centre, this program is helping us build a skilled, diverse and local workforce. #PicturedHere are our first cadets. Congratulations to this diverse crew, who come from various backgrounds via organisations including CareerSeekers, CareerTrackers, Jesuit Refugee Service’s JustWorks recruitment service and Monash University’s BEST initiative, on completing the 10-day skill-building course. Our Tools of the Trade Industry Development Program aims to develop the cadets and trainees on SRL East and build more real-world construction skills. Through various hands-on activities, program participants develop competencies in various areas, including operating scissor lifts and rollers, understanding site preparation processes, fixing drainpipes and completing the Australian Tunnelling Society’s Bulletproof Performance program, which focuses on enhancing communication skills. This holiday season, our CPB Contractors team in Townsville took on the role of Christmas Elves to support Power100’s Helping Hampers Food Drive.🎄 As part of the Department of Defence’s North Queensland Mid-Term Refresh Project, the team rallied together to fill a red wheelie bin and container to the brim with non-perishable food 🎁. These donations are now headed to Food Relief North Queensland to brighten the holidays for local families in need. A big shout-out to CPB Contractors Senior SH Advisor Carl Bopping, for leading this fantastic initiative on-site. Want to hear more about what's happening across CPB Contractors? 🎄Twice the Christmas joy in South Australia✨ This festive season, two of our CPB Contractors project teams joined forces, swapping blueprints for gift wrapping and bows🎁, to spread some holiday cheer for some deserving children in South Australia. Team members🧝(elves!?) from the Department for Infrastructure and Transport’s Fleurieu Connections Alliance Stage 2 project and Port Wakefield to Port Augusta Alliance thoughtfully selected, wrapped, and delivered more than 80 gifts to Act for Kids, a local charity that supports vulnerable children in out-of-home care. A huge thank you to our teams for your generosity and Christmas magic. ✨ Want to hear more about what's happening across CPB Contractors? What makes this on-site solar set-up extra dazzling☀️, you ask? Well, it's also South Australia’s first 20kW hybrid power system!😎 Our CPB Contractors team, as part of the Fleurieu Connections Alliance, is beaming with pride to be using this emission-reducing power source, which will significantly reduce the use of diesel across project operations. Safety and sustainability are central to all we do each day, and the successful installation of this solar array in South Australia marks a significant milestone for the state and forms part of a larger CPB Contractors-wide push towards our own sustainability and net zero targets. #Expertise💡 and a stellar eye for #detail🔎 are two of the skills that CPB Contractors’ Senior Environmental Advisor Laura Andersen brings to her TasWater Alliance team. 🌟 During the delivery of TasWater’s Penna Recycled Water Scheme project, Laura's knowledgeable approach was particularly instrumental. A number of First Nations artefacts were uncovered during excavation works, and thanks to Laura’s previous experience with similar discoveries, she guided the project team through managing these findings appropriately. Laura’s teammates unanimously agreed that she showed them a better approach to protecting artifacts found during excavation and addressing requirements.
