Congratulations to our CQUniversity Bachelor of Medical Science (Pathway to Medicine) graduates! 🎉👏🎓 The Central Queensland and Wide Bay Regional Medical Pathway was established in 2019 by CQUniversity Australia (CQU), The University of Queensland (UQ), and the Central Queensland and Wide Bay Hospital and Health Services. The collaboration delivers an end-to-end medical education and training pathway right here, in regional Queensland. Eligible students progress from CQU’s Bachelor of Medical Science (Pathway to Medicine) to UQ’s Doctor of Medicine (MD), a regionally contextualised MD. Over the past 2 years, RMP undergraduate students have completed observational placements within our Health Service to learn the foundations of the health system and how it operates. Now, as they enter The University of Queensland’s Doctor of Medicine next year, they will continue their clinical training locally. We are well-prepared to accommodate all students who choose our health service as their preference for internships upon graduating in 2029. Let’s welcome and embrace our newest MD students! 💙👏 #MedicalSchool #CentralQueensland #RegionalMedicine #PathwayToMedicine

Progress is coming along for the new satellite renal dialysis unit at Capricorn Coast Hospital and Health Service, Yeppoon. This new eight-chair unit will provide access to life-sustaining care closer to home – saving patients four to five hours of travel time per week. Patient care will be supported by the Kidney health service, based at Rockhampton Hospital, with expert and dedicated renal nurses. The project is expected to reach completion in early 2025. @paynters #KidneyHealth #CapricornCoastHospital

Executive Director of Allied Health's Award for Clinical Excellence winner: Melissa Cantwell 👏💙 At this year's Allied Health Awards, our Executive Director of Allied Health Kerrie-Anne Frakes recognised Melissa for her work in leading in some of the most patient-centred care we can offer. As the Director of Social Work, she has worked with the Queensland Voluntary Assisted Dying Support Service (QVAD) to help over 70 Central Queenslanders access voluntary assisted dying (VAD) services since January 2023. Underscoring the choice this service provides is that approximately one third of those deemed eligible have chosen not to proceed, preferring instead to work with our incredible palliative care teams at home and in the community. However, patients tell us that the option to conclude their healthcare journey, on their terms, is empowering. Congratulations to Melissa and her team for enabling true choice at the end of life 💙 #AlliedHealth #SocialWork
