CTS Tyre Recycling supports a move by Australia’s peak tyre recycling body, which is partnering with the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries to recommend new measures designed to improve environmental and economic outcomes for used tyres. The Australian Tyre Recyclers Association (ATRA) and the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries are in Canberra this week to announce a proposal which they say will encourage a consistent approach among recyclers, manufacturers, and retailers. The federal government is being asked to consider a series of regulatory options that would further develop the used tyre recovery sector and repurpose materials otherwise destined for landfill, including: - Regulatory interventions to remove the 99 per cent of used mining tyres from site - Additional fees for a product stewardship scheme - Scheme fees for remote area collection and legacy stockpile removal - Targeted retail waste generator compliance program, working with existing environmental protection authority programs - State-based bans on disposal of all processed used tyres to landfill - Improved government procurement for used tyre products - Improved governance and engagement with stakeholders under any revised scheme ATRA says bans to landfill, along with remote collection programs and ensuring waste mine tyres aren’t simply buried on site, are all relatively simple actions governments could take to improve sector outcomes. Published data has on-site disposal rates of 99 per cent although industry experience suggests this could be closer to 90 per cent and that around 10 per cent of used OTR tyres are currently removed from site. Our new CTS Tyre Recycling facility nearing construction at Neerabup, north of Perth, will be the first in Australia capable of efficiently recycling all sizes of tyres, including the massive tyres used on the largest mining haul trucks. The new facility will have the capability to process tyres from waste material into high value new products. See more at www.ctstyrerecycing.com.au

Our new facility is nearing completion, with the installation and commissioning of the primary tyre recycling line scheduled over the next two weeks thanks to the efforts of the on-site team from Danish industry leader ELDAN Recycling A/S. The ELDAN Recycling A/S plant is a state-of-the-art installation, turning waste tyres into crumb rubber, tyre derived products and reusable high tensile steel wire. The Neerabup facility will be a first for Australia to include a “pre-shredding” process to enable complete on-site recycling of the largest “Off The Road” (OTR) tyres of the type and size used on massive haul trucks across the mining industry. The company has also purchased advanced rubber moulding equipment to produce a range of high-value speciality rubber products, including acoustic underlay and a range of rubber matting suitable for soft-fall flooring, equestrian surfaces, farm matting, gym matting, load restraint matting and other uses. With the support of a joint federal and state government grant, CTS Tyre Recycling has committed to a major additional capability at its new state of the art facility being built at Neerabup, north of Perth. The Neerabup project, valued at more than $40-million, will deliver a recycling plant to process waste tyres into crumb rubber, tyre derived products, reusable high tensile steel wire and reusable textile. And the company has now committed to install a remanufacturing line at the new facility. The latest grant, of $4.5-million, was announced by Federal Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek and WA Environment Minister Reece Whitby as part of the joint-government Recycling Modernisation Fund.

A great video series from the team at ecologiQ on the benefits of crumb rubber in a range of applications. at CTS Tyre Recycling our nationally significantly plant will increase the availability of crumb rubber whilst keeping end of life tyres out of landfill.
Sadly our crumb rubber mythbusters series has come to an end. Across the series we busted some of the common myths associated with using recycled rubber from discarded car tyres in construction of shared user paths, road safety barriers, permeable pavement and modified asphalt. We want to thank our fantastic experts, Dan McKay, Professor Tuan Ngo, Associate Professor Mahdi Miri Disfani and Dr James Grenfell for helping us bust the common misconceptions when is comes to the performance 📈, safety ⚠️, sustainability 🌲, cost 💲 and installation 🚧 of these construction materials. If you missed any of the videos, head to the ecologiQ LinkedIn homepage or search for 'ecologiQ mythbuster series' on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/gRcBUZjH.

Exciting to see this innovative project paving the way for more sustainable infrastructure! At CTS Tyre Recycling , we're proud to support efforts that not only recycle end-of-life tyres but also enhance the durability and environmental footprint of our roads. Applauds to Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC) Inc., Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA), and all partners for their commitment to recycling and environmental stewardship. #Sustainability #Recycling #Innovation #Recycle
The Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC) Inc. led one of Australia's largest multi-council demonstration projects, using rubber recovered from end-of-life tyres blended into bitumen to enhance asphalt #durability, performance, and environmental sustainability of road pavements. Conducted by RMIT University, a Life Cycle Assessment entitled Life Cycle Assessment and Potential Environmental Benefits of Crumb Rubber Asphalt using Field Data has studied the environmental impacts associated with incorporating recycled rubber from end-of-life tyres into bitumen for asphalt pavement construction and has found that recycled rubber extends pavement service life, reduces demand for raw materials, and lowers environmental impacts. Led by SSROC with the support of Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA), and in partnership with the Australian Flexible Pavement Association (AfPA), the Paving the Way: Recycling Tyres for Roads project involved: Bayside, Burwood, Canada Bay, Canterbury-Bankstown, City of Sydney, Georges River, Inner West, Randwick, Sutherland, Waverley and Woollahra and Northern Beaches councils.
