Important Update: Protect Your Pets from Parvo and Panleukopenia We want to alert all pet owners about a recent increase in cases of Parvovirus in dogs and Feline Panleukopenia in cats in South East Queensland and Northern NSW. These highly contagious diseases pose a significant risk, particularly to unvaccinated pets, and can spread rapidly through direct contact, shared environments, and even contaminated objects. Parvovirus primarily affects dogs, causing severe symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea (often with blood), lethargy, and loss of appetite. Without prompt treatment, this condition can become life-threatening. Similarly, Panleukopenia in cats leads to symptoms like fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and a dangerous drop in white blood cell counts, leaving cats vulnerable to secondary infections. The best way to protect your pets is through vaccination. Puppies, kittens, and pets with overdue vaccinations are especially at risk, so we strongly encourage owners to ensure their pets are up to date. Regular boosters are essential to maintain immunity. If your pet shows any signs of illness or if you’re unsure about their vaccination status, please contact your vet immediately. Early intervention can save lives. Additionally, avoid taking unvaccinated pets to public areas or allowing them to interact with other animals until they are fully protected. We understand how much you care about your furry family members, and we are here to support you during this time. Together, we can minimize the spread of these preventable diseases and keep our pets safe and healthy. #parvovirus #ProtectYourPet #dogs #cats #kittens #dogs

🔬 New Insights into Blood Pressure Monitoring for Dogs Recent CVS-supported research reveals that visually observing a sphygmomanometer needle oscillation (SNO) during Doppler ultrasound may offer more accurate blood pressure readings than the traditional audible pulse method (ARPF). The study, conducted on anaesthetised dogs, found that while SNO showed better agreement with invasive methods, both techniques underestimated true blood pressure. Doppler remains useful for monitoring trends, but validated methods like oscillometric devices or invasive measures are recommended for critical accuracy. This research provides valuable guidance for improving patient care during anaesthesia. Read the full study in Animals journal:https://lnkd.in/edWscR7H
Does visual sphygmomanometer needle oscillation hold the key to improving accuracy of Doppler ultrasound BP measurement?
