  • Hertz franchisee Australian Truck and Bus Rentals has hit major milestone taking delivery of its 1000th Fuso. The company, which has 20 Hertz locations across New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, bought its first Fuso back in 2001.   Its fleet now stands a 350-strong and includes Canter, Fighter and Shogun trucks as the small Rosa bus.   Fuso Adelaide Branch Manager, Darren Calvert, handed over the keys to the special Fuso to Australia Truck and Bus Rentals Hertz Fleet Manager, Luke Gould, last week.   The 1000th Fuso is a new Canter fitted with a curtainsider body, a very popular model in the Hertz rental fleet.   This model was recently updated with a new exterior design that includes 30 per cent brighter LED headlights and an upgraded multimedia unit.   Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Sales and Marketing Vice President, Andrew Assimo, congratulated Australia Truck and 4WD Rentals on its milestone.   “Taking delivery of 1000 Fuso trucks is an awesome achievement and we are thrilled to have such a great relationship with the team at Australia Truck and 4WD Rentals,” he says.   “They are committed to giving their customers the safest trucks with the latest technology, so it makes sense that they choose Fuso,” Mr Assimo concluded.  Mr Gould says the company is very happy with the Fuso product and the support from the dealership network and Daimler Truck head office.   “The Fuso products have all the features our customers need and we really like the fact they come with inbuilt safety features. The fact they are so easy to drive is also a big plus,” Mr Gould says.   “Fuso trucks have long service intervals, which is great for us, and we appreciate the warranty and servicing support.’ #AustralianTruckand4WDRentals #Hertz #Fuso #Canter

  • Fuso has introduced a facelifted Canter range with a new-look exterior and an upgraded multimedia unit. The Canter, which boasts class-leading payload and longer service intervals than its rivals, now features a new exterior design with LED headlights, which are 30 per cent brighter. There are also LED turn lamps on the lower door sections. It also has a new bumper and a fresh grille that is capped with a black strip featuring the Fuso badge. This styling element is referred to as the Black Belt design that matches the recently introduced new generation all-electric eCanter. Fuso has left the trusted engine and transmissions of the Canter range largely alone, apart from some minor internal revisions and a slightly larger sump on select models. The contemporary interior design remains unchanged. Canter customers will benefit from an important upgrade of the 8-inch multimedia media unit. Taking on customer feedback, Fuso has added wireless Apple and Android connectivity, removing any need for cables and adaptors. The multimedia unit has upgraded processing and memory performance and integrated accessory capabilities. It displays the footage from the reversing camera that comes standard with all Canter models, while footage from up to five additional cameras can also be shown on the screen. Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Sales, Marketing and Operations Vice President, Andrew Assimo, says the updated Canter will be appreciated by drivers. “The Fuso Canter has long represented a fantastic business case thanks to its class-leading payload and 30,000km service intervals,” he says. “This upgrade really adds to its appeal and we know the new features will be welcomed by our customers,” Mr Assimo concludes. All Canter models, including the FG 4x4 Canter, receive the upgrades that come with the facelift. Fuso was the first brand to introduce Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) to the light truck class  back in 2019 and this system, along with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), is standard on all Canters except for the off-road oriented 4x4. #Canter #FusoCanter #DaimlerTruck

  • ACFS Port Logistics is operating a Mercedes-Benz eActros as part of an all-electric container delivery pilot program in Sydney. The leading logistics provider is the first company to run the eActros prime mover in Australia as part of the “ACFS Better Way” program, which represents the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in the logistics industry. The eActros features class-leading electric truck technology, including an e-axle, which integrates electric motors into the drive axle of the truck and replaces a traditional driveshaft. Daimler Truck Australia Pacific President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead, says the ACFS pilot program is demonstrating the benefits of running an electric truck in Sydney. “ACFS has a proven track record of striving to reduce its emissions in any way it can, including purchasing Daimler Truck vehicles that meet Euro 6 or equivalent emissions levels such as the Mercedes-Benz Actros and Fuso Shogun,” Mr Whitehead says. “The all-electric eActros goes a step further and delivers huge benefits in built up areas, producing zero driving emissions and operating near silently. It is a sustainability pioneer, but is also a true workhorse, which the ACFS team is finding out in its daily operations.” ACFS Port Logistics Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Arthur Tzaneros, says the pilot program represents an important milestone for the company. "We are proud to introduce the Mercedes eActros to our fleet and be at the forefront of clean Transport solutions,” he says. “This continuing focus to lead and innovate by piloting the heavy vehicle electric technology not only reflects our commitment to sustainability, but also enhances the service we provide to our customers. Mr Tzaneros says ACFS is looking to the future by integrating trucks such as the eActros. “As we embrace innovative solutions, we are also taking significant steps toward reducing our carbon footprint and supporting the communities we serve. We believe this initiative will pave the way for further advancements and investment in our operations and contribute to a greener future for all,” he says. Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Sales and Marketing Vice President, Andrew Assimo, says the company is ready to help customers achieve their sustainability goals.  “Daimler Truck offers our customers a complete sustainable truck solution, whether it be low emission diesel or battery electric,” he says. The eActros features three lithium-ion battery packs with a total capacity of 336kWh. Running with a single trailer, it can operate at total Gross Combination Mass (GCM) of 36-tonnes. Daimler Trucks Brisbane and Gold Coast General Manager, Aaron Camilleri, says ACFS has been a valued client since 2019 and has always been very clear that decarbonation is key priority. “It’s great to see ACFS’ continued commitment to their emissions reduction strategy,” Mr Camilleri says. #eActros #MercedesBenzTrucks #ACFSPortLogistics #ACFS

GTS Freight Management has taken delivery of six Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks at its Mildura headquarters. The privately-owned company, which loads 500 trailers each day and covers 3 million kilometres every month, selected the 2658 model. Daimler Truck Australia Pacific President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead, handed over the keys to GTS Freight Services Managing Director, Damien Matthews, in Mildura this week. “We are thrilled to see the Actros in GTS black,” Mr Whitehead says. “GTS is achieving great things and is actually growing its business in a challenging economic environment, which shows it is really delivering for its customers. The fact that GTS will be using six Mercedes-Benz Actros support these customers is something we are very proud of,” he adds. Mr Matthews says the Actros trucks, which were delivered by Daimler Trucks Mildura, are a welcome addition to the GTS Freight Services fleet. “We know from previous experience that the Actros is great on fuel and the drivers have already told me, after the first trip, how comfortable and quiet these new trucks are,” he says. “The high level of active safety features that Mercedes-Benz prides itself on is also really welcome because safety underpins everything we do at GTS,” Mr Matthews adds. Importantly, the Mercedes-Benz Actros comes standard with engines that meet Euro 6 emissions ratings, which are stricter than existing Australian trucks emission standards.    Mr Matthews was also attracted by the complimentary servicing offer that was part of the package. Mr Matthews was also pleased to work with Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Head of Retail Fleet Sales, Barry Smith, who was able to help him pick the best job for his specific task.  The chosen truck runs the OM 473 15.6-litre six-cylinder that pumps out 580hp and 2800Nm of torque and is linked to a 12-speed PowerShift Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). It features Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) which uses topographic map data and GPS to help the truck anticipate terrain and select the optimum shift pattern and engine response for maximum fuel economy including coasting when safe. #DaimlerTruck #MercedesBenzTrucks #Actros #GTSFreightManagement

  • Come and say hello to our Daimler Truck team at the AFAC fire and emergency services conference that is now on in Sydney. Held at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour, the event runs until tomorrow afternoon. As you can see from the image that was snapped before the doors opened, the Fuso Canter 4x4 and Mercedes-Benz Unimog are representing Daimler Truck. Both trucks have proven themselves for decades in harsh conditions and have true off-road capability with toughness to match. The Fuso Canter 4x4 has a low-range gearbox, locking front hubs and a rear Limited Slip Differential (LSD). Customers also have the option of a standard cab or crew cab that seats up to seven passengers. The larger Unimog is perfect for all-terrain fleets such as the NSW State Emergency Service and Victoria’s Forest Fire Management and is available in a crew cab option with a low-emission Euro 6 engine. It has portal axles that give it excellent ground clearance and can ford water up to 1.2 metres deep, while central tyre inflation allows pressure adjustment for maximum traction in slippery conditions. #AFAC #DAIMLERTRUCK #UNIMOG #CANTER4x4

  • The King off the Road is headlining the Daimler Truck presence at the AFAC fire and emergency services show in Sydney from September 3 to 6. The unmatched Mercedes-Benz Unimog will share the limelight with the trusty Fuso Canter 4x4, which is also a serious off-road vehicle. The iconic Unimog has remarkable off-road capability that has seen it join high profile all-terrain fleets including the NSW State Emergency Service and Victoria’s Forest Fire Management. The U5023 model on display is a crew cab with an optional six-seater crew cab. A low-emission Euro 6 engine gives the Unimog plenty of power and a gearbox with 16 forward gears and 12 reverse means maximum drivability in tough terrain. Massive ground clearance is enabled thanks to the Unimog’s famed portal axles and it can ford water up to 1.2 metres deep. This unit also features central tyre inflation, which means tyre pressures can be easily adjusted for optimum traction in slippery conditions. The Fuso Canter 4x4 is a rugged and robust off-road capable machine with a low-range gearbox, locking front hubs and a rear Limited Slip Differential (LSD). Customers also have the option of a standard cab or crew cab that seats seven. The Canter 4x4 has a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 6.5 tonne (10.5 tonne GCM) but is also available with a 4.5 tonne GVM so it can be driven on a car licence. Daimler Truck Sales, Marketing and Operations Vice President, Andrew Assimo, says Mercedes-Benz and Fuso have long been trusted by Australian fire and emergency services for their off-road capability and durability. “We’re thrilled to bring the Unimog and 4x4 Canter to the AFAC show to demonstrate class-leading off-road capability in big and small sizes,” he says. “These two trucks have unmatched capabilities that allow fire and emergency service members carry out their critical work safely and effectively.” AFAC 24 is being held at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour.  #AFAC #Unimog #DaimlerTruck #MercedesBenzActros

  • Freightliner customers can enjoy complimentary TruckTraining product training with every Cascadia model sold. The program is delivered by the same TruckTraining team that provides training for Mercedes-Benz Trucks and select Fuso models. The Freightliner Cascadia introduced new technology into the conventional truck class in Australia in 2019, including a raft of features to help customers save fuel and improve their bottom line. Daimler Truck Sales, Marketing and Operations Vice President, Andrew Assimo, says Freightliner customers benefit from the complimentary training offering. “We are proud to offer the TruckTraining service to our customers because we know it translates into real-world savings,” Mr Assimo says. “Actros and Shogun customers have told us that they see improvements after our team has spent some time with their drivers, so we are thrilled that Cascadia customers will be able to realise the same benefits,” he adds. TruckTraining is not designed to teach customers how to drive a truck, but instead help them to maximise the benefits of this advanced technology that can help drivers save fuel and reduce fatigue. Mercedes-Benz Trucks Head of Heavy Duty National Truck Sales in Australia, Gary Parker, says: “Anyone can step into a Cascadia and get good fuel economy, but to get really great fuel economy it pays to understand some of the features that really help save those extra litres.” “The Cascadia is not a traditional American truck. You don’t need to rev it hard. You can let the torque do the work, which means the truck will accelerate better and save fuel at the same time,” he concludes. Then there are specific technical features drivers may not have experienced yet because they might be available with other conventional trucks the driver has been piloting. One such feature for trucks fitted with the Detroit DT12 Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) is the Intelligent Powertrain Management (IPM), which is unlocked when the driver engages cruise control. IPM enables the truck to read topographic route data and its precise GPS location to maximise fuel economy. For example, it knows exactly when to select neutral and coast, when to hold on to a gear and not change up just before the crest of a hill and when to use the engine brake. The Cascadia is available with advanced 13-litre and 16-litre Detroit engines that combine advanced technology with legendary durability and are available with manual or AMT gearboxes. Freightliner TruckTraining is available to single operators and fleets across Australia. Training programs can be tailored for specific fleets for maximum effectiveness. #TruckTraining #DaimlerTruck
