I have been to the 45th Wiener Motorensymposium to give a lecture on hydrogen-diesel dual direct injection technoloy for heavy-duty engine applications. This is where European manufactures showcase their latest development, and after several years of BEV focused symposiums, this year’s buzz word is H2ICE. Pictures show impressive work done by Phinia, AVL, Westport and Aramco etc. ranging from low pressure direct injection SI engines to dual-fuel HPDI, indicating H2ICEs are ready for the mass produced products to the customer market (Steyr fuel cell tractor as a buddy to the group too). Now they are waiting for the hydrogen infrastructure, and expectation is high for Australian green hydrogen! Retrofitting engines for hydrogen-diesel hybrids in mining, agriculture, port, construction and bulk material sites is a great approach for lowering the barriers of the customer adoption. Wouldn’t it be great if there is a high tech company who can supply the services and products ranging from the hydrogen sourcing, operation review, engine conversion and monitoring of CO2 reduction?
