In the recent event held on 24th October, the Melanoma & Skin Cancer Nurses Organisation reached out to nurses across Australia, inviting them to develop their skills in managing the nation’s most common cancer – skin cancer. DermScreen had the pleasure of supporting this inaugural conference, dedicated to nurses, the backbone of our healthcare system, as they gained specialised knowledge and tools to combat skin cancer and provide patient care throughout the cancer journey. It was a fantastic opportunity for participants to connect, share insights, and strengthen networks, furthering the fight for a healthier, sun-safe Australia. Recently, general practitioners and nurses from across New South Wales convened in Coffs Harbour on the North Coast for RDN’s workshop on Skin Cancer Diagnosis in Rural Settings, supported by Healthy North Coast Primary Health Network (HNC PHN). This workshop aimed to tackle the specific challenges that rural healthcare providers encounter in diagnosing and managing skin cancer. It blended traditional approaches with advanced digital tools, improving participants' capacity to deliver timely and precise care. Philip Tong, a dermatologist and CEO of DermScreen, was one of the facilitators and presented DermScreen’s innovative digital platform that aids in skin cancer diagnosis. He was joined by Dr. Tim Peacock from First Light Healthcare in Ballina and Professor Jim Muir, a dermatologist and founder of ACRRM’s Tele-Derm. Clem Gordon, who traveled from Warialda to participate, praised the workshop, describing it as the “best workshop I have ever attended - interesting, informative, and featuring great presenters.” He remarked, “Excellent - this should be available for all rural, isolated GPs.” RDN plans to host this important workshop again in another NSW location in early 2025, so keep an eye out for further updates. #SkinCancerDiagnosis #RuralHealthcare #Dermatology #Telehealth #DigitalHealth #GPWorkshop #CoffsHarbour #PrimaryCare #HealthyNorthCoast #RuralDoctorsNetwork #DermScreen #SkinCancerAwareness #MedicalEducation #HealthcareInnovation #SkinCancerDetection Rural Doctors Network (RDN) Healthy North Coast Dr Tim Peacock Dr Jim Muir Gurmesh Singh Diana Coote Warialda Clement Gordon Warialda Grace Leung Ballina Katie Gordon
