Empowering and educating our community to prevent bullying and cyber bullying.

About us

Dolly Everett was the victim of bullying and ended her young life at just 14 years of age. Dolly’s Dream has been established by her family and friends in her memory. Dolly’s Dream will work to create positive change and help prevent the lives of other children being lost, and act as a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. Dolly’s Dream will: • Raise awareness in communities, children and parents about the serious issue of bullying and its devastating effects • Work to prevent and address bullying issues in the community • Deliver information on ways to mitigate bullying, including cyber bullying, within school communities and to those in need • Change cultures in the community to prevent bullying, and • Support victims of bullying To safeguard the future of Dolly’s Dream and to maximise its impact, Tick and Kate have partnered with the Alannah & Madeline Foundation (ABN 96 514 115 810). The assistance of this partnership will allow Tick and Kate to progress their mission of honouring their daughter’s memory through Dolly’s Dream. Money raised for Dolly’s Dream will go to programs and services to achieve Dolly’s Dream’s purpose. To do this, funding expenditure will be governed by an Advisory Board which will include Kate and Tick Everett. This Advisory Board will make recommendations on how to best spend funds and ensure Dolly’s Dream’s programs and services have the greatest impact.

A massive thank you to the Dungog Show Committee for your amazing support at this year’s show. Thanks to everyone involved, a total of $6,586 was raised, with $3,293 going directly to Dolly’s Dream to help us deliver our support services to young people and families affected by bullying. Miracle Urban, the Dungog Show Committee's Vice President, shared, "We choose Dolly’s Dream as our charity in conjunction with our 2024 Dungog Show as this charity is very close to our committees and communities' heart. We want to help stop the increased amount of bulling and youth suicide in our local and greater communities." A big shoutout to Mark and Ursula Watts from Watts Speckle Park at Glendon Brook for or generously donating the beautiful heifer Dolly, to Miracle Urban for preparing and breaking Dolly in, and to everyone in the community who bought raffle tickets, chairs, hay, and supported us in so many ways. You’ve all made a real difference, and we can’t thank you enough. #DollysDream #BeKind #DoItForDolly

The North Gambier Girls Footy Club recently joined the Dolly’s Dream Community Sports Club Program and held a special Dolly’s Dream Round fundraiser to help raise awareness about the serious effects of bullying. Organiser Alli shares, "I first discovered Dolly’s Dream through my kids' Do It For Dolly Day school fundraiser, and it resonated even more through my work at Nutrien Ag Solutions. Sadly, I’ve seen firsthand the impact bullying can have - whether through social media or hurtful words on and off the sports field. I believe every child deserves a place where they feel safe and happy, and for many, that’s the sports field. Dolly’s Dream provides invaluable resources and programs to educate our kids and create a kinder world. Recently, our club hosted a Dolly’s Dream round at our AFLW home ground, with full support from the league. Teams wore blue in solidarity, and it was a huge success. My dream is to see this become a dedicated round across the AFL and AFLW - imagine that! It would be a powerful way to highlight the importance of kindness for all young people.” 💙 Thank you, North Gambier Girls Footy Club, for standing with Dolly's Dream and helping us work toward a kinder world! #DollysDream #BeKind #DoItForDolly

Dolly's Dream welcomes yesterday's announcement from the NSW Government by Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning, Prue Car, with plans to develop strategies, policies, and procedures to combat bullying in schools across NSW.   The NSW Government's plan to unite public, Catholic, and private schools in a comprehensive approach to combat bullying is a meaningful step forward, and Kate and Tick are thrilled to see this progress.   We know that bullying—whether it’s face-to-face or online—can cause deep and lasting harm, affecting a young person’s confidence, mental health, and even their future.   Dolly’s Dream supports these collaborative efforts to protect children and young people and empower every school to be a safer, more inclusive environment for every student.   You can read more here: https://bit.ly/4hRluLG   If you are concerned about a child being bullied, call Dolly’s Dream Support Line - available 24/7 - 0488 881 033   Report online bullying here - https://lnkd.in/gk_suXT   Download Beacon, our free cyber safety app for parents and carers, at https://bit.ly/3SKtV0u   #DollysDream #BeKind #DoItForDolly

At Dolly’s Dream, we know that bullying - whether it is face-to-face or online - can cause deep and lasting harm. It is Dolly’s story, and we are heartbroken that we continue to see precious lives lost to bullying. Changing the culture of bullying is central to our mission and the work that we do, however it requires a united, consistent effort. Schools, parents and carers, governments, and communities must work together to drive lasting change.
