Hearts and paws were truly connecting during a recent visit to the Happy Paws Happy Hearts Foundation (HPHH) at the RSPCA facility in Wacol. Bupa Care residents, alongside young people who have experienced social isolation, had the opportunity to bond with rescue animals—including dogs, puppies, kittens, ducklings, and even a blue-tongued lizard! Thanks to a $65,000 grant from Eastern Star Foundation, HPHH has been able to launch its Intergenerational Ageing Program. The Eastern Star Foundation provides philanthropic grants to charities to help improve outcomes for the aged.
About us
The Eastern Star (Australia) Foundation Ltd trading as Eastern Star Foundation is a philanthropic foundation that provides grants to charities to help improve outcomes for the aged. Our activities are underpinned by our values of dignity, independence and hope. Our history of caring for the aged dates back to 1954, when a group of Order of the Eastern Star members established the organisation with a mission to provide a home for their aged members. The organisation later became an aged and community care provider, known as Star Aged Living and based at Beaudesert in Queensland, before that business was sold in 2018. Established as a foundation in 2019, the organisation’s activities are underpinned by its values of dignity, independence and hope. Through our partnerships with charities and other philanthropists, we help the aged to: - Remain independent - Practice choice - Participate in their community - Have a support network - Experience healthy ageing

We are so proud to be supporting this impactful Intergenerational Program. Congratulations Happy Paws Happy Hearts Foundation for the outcomes you have achieved this year!
🌟 Bridging Generations, Building Connections 🌟 Happy Paws Happy Hearts (HPHH) was excited to hold another successful Intergenerational Program for 2024 at RSPCA Brisbane Animal Care Campus at Wacol. Thanks to Eastern Star Foundation for the generous grant funding to hold this program. We were thrilled to welcome both new and familiar faces from Bupa Aged Care New Farm to take part in our Wednesday afternoon Intro to Handle class. After hearing about how Happy Paws Happy Hearts creates meaningful connections between people and rescue animals, the residents saw this mission come to life through participant demonstrations of animal handling, care, enrichment, and training techniques. One participant stepped out of her comfort zone to speak confidently to the group, sharing her personal story of why she comes to Happy Paws Happy Hearts and what it means to her. This is something she couldn’t have imagined herself doing before coming to HPHH. Read Cathy’s incredible story of Confidence from this session in the link below. https://lnkd.in/gHR55tUi It’s wonderful to see our Intergenerational Program flourish as a platform for sharing stories, skills, and smiles. Thanks to Eastern Star Foundation, Zoe Black, Kellie Ireland, Wendy Lawrence, National Lifestyle and Wellbeing Advisor at Bupa Aged Care, Tara Trevanion, New Farm General Manager, and Vatan Deep Kaur Khaira, Lifestyle Coordinator for organising and supporting this special day. #HPHH #IntergenerationalProgram #AgedCare #AnimalConnection #PetTherapy #Enrichment

This significant funding supports their Free Equipment for the Over 65s Project, which addresses a critical gap in equipment hire services for individuals over 65 living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Our return to Townsville was absolutely wonderful! Music has the incredible power to uplift, and we are deeply passionate about bringing hope, health, and happiness to those who need it most through what we do best. Tours like this beautifully remind us just how impactful sharing the joy of music can be. On Saturday, QSO musicians visited Blue Care Retirement Village to share the joy of music first-hand to those unable to attend Friday's Symphony Under the Stars. These regional tours are a key part of our Health and Wellbeing Program, which helps ensure we can spread the joy of music and music education to all Queenslanders. A big thank you to Health and Wellbeing Queensland and The Eastern Star Foundation for their generous support of our Health and Wellbeing Program.
