Very pleased to announce our partnership with EcoJoule Energy to expand our solution portfolio to include LV solutions and realise the ‘Total Voltage Control’ concept. Combining EcoJoule’s solutions and power electronics expertise (LV voltage regulation, phase balancing and energy storage) with ours at HV and MV level (advanced tapchanger control and monitoring) will definitely help solve issues and challenges associated with the huge number of LCT connections (low carbon technologies, e.g. rooftop solar, electric vehicles, electric heat pumps etc.). Our communities are looking to smart network solutions to empower their energy use and choices. Therefore, we are partnering with Origin Energy, to deliver a compact energy storage trial. 35 batteries will be placed on to power poles across Armidale, Bathurst, Dubbo, Port Macquarie and Wagga Wagga. The trial will enable us to assess optimal use for communities and maximise the benefits of customers' rooftop solar. Rooftop solar and batteries play a crucial role in managing peak demand periods and voltage fluctuations. Origin Energy will orchestrate the batteries through its Virtual Power Plant and offering storage-as-a-service for customers - including non-Origin customers - within the trial area. We will install and maintain the batteries and the trial will be open to customers with or without solar systems. As solar generation and use increases, batteries are a key solution spanning low voltage networks through to zone substations and even sub-transmission networks. Dependent on the scenario, batteries can enhance power quality during peak demand, alleviate network constraints or ensure grid efficiency. Given the emerging nature of batteries, we're trialling different battery solutions to learn more. 🔌 The energy transition is placing increasing strain on the #grid as we #electrify everything from road transport, to home heating and industrial processes. 🔋The grid also needs to adapt to increasing renewables penetration and the rise of distributed energy resources. 💡It’s a climate necessity to accelerate grid buildout: it is estimated that we will need 80 million km of new transmission and distribution to meet our decarbonisation goals.
