Fremantle Ports has confirmed planned berth maintenance is taking place in stages across both the DP World and Patrick’s Terminals – with the first maintenance shutdown beginning at Berth 4 earlier this week.   While maintenance is taking place vessel scheduling and processing times may be impacted, but as always, our team will do our best to minimise disruptions where we can and keep our clients informed.   Further maintenance is planned for February, March and April – we’ve got the dates in our diary so you can be sure we’ll keep you up to date!   #ees #shipping #freightforwarding #freight #logistics #supplychain

Advancements in technology mean the world is more connected than ever before, and yet there remains a disconnect between events on the other side of the globe and the impact on Australia’s supply chain. The freight and logistics industry is often subject to the domino effect – that being when one event takes place, it sets off an entire chain. It’s no secret that we are passionate about our industry, and do all we can to encourage younger people to learn more about what we do and the career opportunities that exist not just as EES Shipping, but in freight and logistics more broadly. We were thrilled to have Shaikh Haque spend some time with us on work experience recently, learning the practical side of operations as part of his Masters in supply chain and logistics. In his own words, Shaikh says he gained valuable insight into the complex operation that is global logistics, and the number of people involved to keep the supply chain flowing smoothly and efficiently. “Wow, simply wow.” Shaikh says he hopes to work for a logistics company when he finishes his studies, so fingers crossed we made a good impression! Thanks for spending time with us Shaikh, it was a pleasure showing you the ropes.

As freight forwarders, there wouldn’t be many – if any! – shipping routes the EES team isn’t aware of, with thousands of vessels crisscrossing the globe on any given day. For the general public though, it’s likely they’re only aware of major routes or ones that are highlighted as a result of global events – such as the Suez Canal or the Red Sea. However, did you know that there are trade lanes in the Arctic, and that vessel movements in this part of the world are on the rise? The Arctic Council revealed earlier this year that the number of ships entering the Arctic Polar Code area rose 37% in the 10 years to 2023, which general cargo ships the second most common vessel, behind fishing vessels. There’s now a push to collect more data about vessel movements in the area to monitor any emerging trends.
