Thanks Climate Salad. It was totally unexpected to be nominated as a finalist for the 2024 Woman in Climate Tech Award. It was a huge surprise given this year has been one of the most challenging and rewarding years of my life, building a lab and workshop, building a business and building a family all at the same time. Thank you to everyone who supported me and EM ENERGY since the beginning of our journey, with special mention to Cicada Innovations, Trailblazer for Recycling and Clean Energy (TRaCE), Investment NSW, NSW Powerfuels including Hydrogen Network, EnergyLab, University of Newcastle, Hunter iF and Net Zero Economy Agency. #woman_in_climate #organic_hydrogen #green_hydrogen #sustainability #netzero

Wondering how deep tech innovations can solve overconsumption with sustainable production and waste? ♻️ In this Cicada x Tech23 discussion panel from Tina Funder, Chris W. and Lucie Semenec outline how their innovative tech is transforming the way we can transition from a "take, make, waste" world to shifting us to a circular economy. 🌏 From pioneering nature-derived materials to extracting hydrogen destined for landfills, they are set to inspire you with how they are rewriting the narrative of waste to be a valuable resource across the energy, fashion, and agriculture industries. Tina Funder, Founder of Alt.Leather outlines in her talk how Alt. Leather is turning waste and regenerative plants into 100% biobased leather textiles for application across fashion, footwear, furniture and automotive. Whereas, Chris W., Co-Founder and Director of EM ENERGY, has invented a technology to extract hydrogen from organic materials originating from landfill without the need for heat or electricity. Enabling on-demand green hydrogen production to decarbonise industries and cities. And finally, Lucie Semenec, CEO & Co-Founder of newera.bio, presents in this panel discussion how Newera Bio are marrying nature with synthetic biology to design a full spectrum of colour synthesis, creating a sustainable dye without compromising performance to be applied across textiles, food, packaging and cosmetics.
