The Christmas spirit hit the Empowered Liveability team this week as everyone gathered to share a meal, enjoy festive cocktails, exchange Secret Santa gifts, and spread plenty of joy and laughter. That festive energy carried over to every resident who calls an Empowered Liveability house home. Santa's little elves (aka the tenancy team) were hard at work, personally delivering gifts to each resident. The smiles on their faces say it all—this thoughtful gesture brought so much happiness. Even EL mascot Charlie got in on the fun, lending a hand to help spread the cheer. We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy Festive Season. National Tenancy Manager Jenelle Basiaco has dedicated months of hard work to securing a housing outcome for a remarkable woman who truly deserves a beautiful home to call her own. Just a week before Christmas, that dream became a reality. Not only has EL worked tirelessly to achieve a housing outcome, but they've also helped create a home filled with love. For the first time, this woman has a new bed and beautiful things to call her own. Jenelle made a special delivery this week, helping to establish a safe and nurturing space where she can begin a new chapter of her life. Jenelle shared that it was an incredibly moving experience to witness the woman's reaction: “Wow, this is all mine. I’ve never had something so special." The collaboration with the SIL support coordinator and everyone involved in this journey was focused on her happiness and dedicated to creating a fulfilling outcome. Have you heard of Appendix H? Appendix H is an extra line of funding, designed to sit alongside SDA funding, for people to live with family. Empowered Liveability are passionate about working with individuals to find the best living solution to allow people to live on their own terms, and Appendix H allows even more flexibility. What can we say? Our Provider partner conference was absolutely mind blowing Not only did we have incredible speakers/panelists throughout the day, the venue at Hyatt Place Melbourne, Essendon Fields was stunning, but the networking, connection and ultimately the collaborative approaches we were trying to encourage, rendered us speechless! When you invite your partners to an event, you hope to foster connection rather than competition, and our partners jumped head first into encouraging eachother to reach out for support and opportunity with the outcome of sustainability for all at the forefront Together we do better! We often talk about ‘Forever Homes’ in the disability housing space, but why are we forgetting (or disregarding) the fact that people with a disability go through the same ages, stages and phases as the general population? How many people, have stayed in the same home for 20+ years? (Even your childhood home!) No matter who you are, or your situation, there is a general timeline for a lot of us (not everyone of course!) we generally grow up in the family home, move out with mates, maybe try living alone or with a partner, and possibly with a family, and into retirement age. While our homes cater for all ages, stages, and phases, we don’t expect that you will stay in one home through all of them! Whether a good time, or a long time, while the house stands the test of time, we don’t expect you to stay in one place for the rest of YOUR time!
