We did it, again! We’ve taken home another Good Design Australia Award, this time in the Digital Design category for the eo SwimBETTER Software Suite 🙌 The judges said: “eo’s Software Suite transforms swim data analysis with its advanced algorithms and user-friendly interface. The Jury was impressed by how the design simplifies complex data for swimmers, providing actionable insights that accelerate improvement. This project exemplifies how design can enhance performance and user experience." We couldn’t have done this without our incredible partners Medulla and Boost Design Australia #TheScienceOfDefiance #GoodDesignAwardWinner

Really happy to see Ben finally achieve his Olympic medal! He discusses some of the details of the preparation for the games in the below video. One of the challenges working with Ben is that he trains out in Turkey which is a 5 hour plane journey for me. So when I sat down with Ben at the start of the Olympic year we knew that we would only have a couple of times working together in person. Looking at the calendar and working with James Gibson MBE and Marco Cosso we identified 3 short visits out to Turkey in September, January and April and 3 competition contacts at European Short Course in Romania in December, World Champs in Doha in February and Trials in London in April to refine processes and monitor performance. This then left us Sette Colli in June as a final prep for the Games. Working away from the Aquatics GB performance centres without camera systems at my disposal this challenged me to think creatively about key biomechanical factors important for Ben around his start and his stroke and how I could monitor them in person, at competition and remotely in a consistent and reliable way. Keeping it simple using static cameras, known distances, DLT calibrations and UW distance markers I was able to work with Ben to create a start analysis setup that he could re-create easily and send me videos across to regularly monitor his efforts before we got to competition. Then using the in competition metrics to evaluate effectiveness of taper and preparation. For the free swim component we need a flexible tool that could be used remotely and I found the eo SwimBetter handsets with the support of Jaimie Fuller and Kenneth Graham PhD a really useful tool for me to track and monitor Ben's performance remotely. The UI and integration of video helped me easily work with Ben to identify areas of improvement in his stroke. Working with Ben has really helped me understand the really fine details of this event and how consistency and execution are so important during the 21 seconds.

When he’s not busy working on new product innovations for eo, our co-founder and principal scientist Kenneth Graham PhD, loves helping athletes achieve their dreams. Here he’s working with Sydney-based mountaineer, Allie Pepper as she attempts to summit the World’s 14 x 8,000m peaks without supplementary oxygen. She’s already two peaks down and has until the end of 2025 to conquer the remaining 12. We wish Allie the best of luck for a safe and successful journey.
