A new study reveals that sleep apnoea and low oxygen levels during sleep are linked to epilepsy that develops after age 60. Researchers found that older adults experiencing nocturnal low blood oxygen levels were three times more likely to develop epilepsy. These findings shed light on the connection between sleep disorders and brain health, highlighting sleep apnoea as a potential target for reducing epilepsy risk in older adults. 🩺 Prioritising better sleep might mean better brain health and fewer health complications later in life.
