ART-FILLED PIED-A-TERRE | Paris Apartment by Thiste Read more about Paris Apartment by Thiste on estliving.com via https://lnkd.in/gJm-sHWC. Located within an 18th-century building on the Left Bank in Paris, this apartment designed by Thiste is an art-filled hidden gem. Home to a nomadic family often on the move, it is a space to pause, slow down, and appreciate the beauty of this timeless pied-à-terre. With a vision to retain the apartment’s original Parisian details— such as the 18th Century Versailles floorboards—the client approached Thiste to find a way to better use the spatial plan for their growing family and celebrate their cherished collection of art and furniture. “The apartment was in good condition, but the layout didn’t meet our client’s expectations,” reflects Thiste founder Thibaut Poirier. “It’s elegant and timeless, with harmony forged between the traditional French accents and contemporary additions,” he adds. Published on estliving.com Editor Sophie Lewis Words Cardia Speziale Design Thiste Photography Thomas De Bruyne #estliving #piedaterre #parisianstyle #artfilledhome #18thcenturyarchitecture #frenchinteriors

DUNE DESIGN | PRW House by SON Studio Explore more about PRW House by SON Studio on estliving.com via https://lnkd.in/g9dDYVyu. With a deep connection to the landscape of Whangamata, New Zealand, the London-based owners of PRW House enlisted New Zealand architects IDEA Studio and Byron Bay-based designers SON Studio to create a holiday home that balances connection and solitude within its coastal surroundings. Clad entirely in custom vertical shiplap timber panels from Hermpac, the facade was chosen for its durability, resilience, and ability to reflect the natural tones of the beachside landscape. “Rather than resisting weathering, the timber was selected to age gracefully. This aligns with SON Studio’s philosophy that beauty need not rely on perpetual newness but can emerge through the subtle patina of age.” - SON Studio founder, Scott Jackson Published on estliving.com Editor Sophie Lewis Words Nikita Bhopti Design SON Studio and IDEA Studio Build Edinbridge Resources Ltd Photography Zico O’Neill-Rutene #estliving #coastalarchitecture #sustainabledesign #timbercladding #newzealandhomes #naturalinspiration

DYNAMIC AND DRAMATIC | Kilmory House by Jillian Dinkel Read more about the Kilmory House on estliving.com via https://lnkd.in/gdMi9tny. Built over a century ago, Kilmory House is one of the last grand estates in Point Piper, Sydney. The home's creative owners, who love entertaining, engaged interior designer Jillian Dinkel to bring the home into a new era. Initially, the brief revolved around reinventing the home for hosting guests, but as the project progressed, "the spaces became almost cinematic—rooms that didn’t just respect the heritage architecture but enhanced its presence through moody textures and layered materiality," Dinkel says. "The home was an exercise between balancing the Arts and Crafts traditional detailing and bringing in refined, contemporary elements that made each room feel like an experience unto itself," she adds. The home features a commercial-grade kitchen, a 12-person formal dining setting to host gatherings and a custom wine cellar that can hold more than 400 bottles. Dinkel says the adjacent garden provides a seamless indoor-outdoor experience, perfect for intimate alfresco moments. The evocative powder room, with its custom vanity and hand-painted wallpaper, "offers guests a uniquely immersive experience—a small retreat that feels transportive and indulgent," she adds. Published on estliving.com Editor Sophie Lewis Words Gemma Hassal Design Jillian Dinkel Styling Joseph Gardner Build Venari Projects Photography Dave Wheeler #estliving #interiordesign #heritagerenovation #kilmoryhouse #sydneyluxuryhomes #jilliandinkeldesign

MY SPACE | Inside designer Andre Mellone's Donald Judd Inspired New York apartment Read the entire interview inside the latest digital issue of est magazine 'Time to Play' on estliving.com via https://lnkd.in/g98FkKwJ. “At the time I was designing this apartment, I went to Marfa, Texas, where I discovered Donald Judd's work. It led to the exploration of colours I hadn’t used before, whether on a cushion, or the seat of a bench, or the oversized custom striped rug,” – Andre Mellone Designing your own home could be daunting for some designers, but not for Andre Mellone, founder of his namesake studio, who relished the opportunity. “It’s like a lab where you test ideas out, and if things go wrong, you have no one to answer to but yourself,” the Brazilian-born New York-based designer says, adding, “and in that frame of mind, I think it’s when the good ideas happen because you are so free and open.” Published in est magazine Editor Sophie Lewis Words Alexandra Gordon Design Studio Mellone Photography Billal Taright Portrait Stephen Kent Johnson #estliving #interiordesign #newyorkapartments #designinnovation #personalspaces #designinspiration
