Why now could be a good time to buy property! Despite high interest rates and costs of living, the Australian property market is very active for purchases. The number of listings is up compared to the same time last year, with new listings up 7.8% in July, according to CoreLogic. This was 5.1% higher than the historic five-year average. This means there is more choice for buyers currently than there has been, on average, over the last few years. This presents a unique opportunity to enter the market. Mortgage brokers are being squeezed from both sides. With the increasing threat of cyberattacks targeting their threat of cyberattacks targeting their treasure trove of personal and financial information, brokers must bolster their defenses. At the same time, upcoming changes to Australia's Privacy Act will tighten regulations on how they handle client data. Mortgage broker Alex Veljancevski, director of Eventus Financial, emphasised the urgency: “As mortgage brokers, we handle a significant amount of personal and financial information. This makes our industry a tempting target for cyberattacks." “So to protect our clients and help maintain our industry's reputation, we must implement robust cybersecurity measures.” https://lnkd.in/g8SjMDR2 #brokers #cybersecurity #cyberattack #personaldata #AustralianBroker #cybersafe #privacyact #brokernews

While mortgage brokers control three quarters of the home loan market, there is a significant demographic that are slipping through the cracks – millennials. Recent data from the Commonwealth Bank shows that millennials are now leading the charge when it comes to property investment, with 46% of CBA’s new investors in 2023 falling into this age bracket. But despite their activity in the market, only 11% of millennials have engaged with a mortgage broker or a financial adviser over the past year, according to a recent study from Great Southern Bank. Consequently, there’s a big opportunity for brokers to close this gap by tailoring their services to better meet millennials’ distinct needs and preferences, according to mortgage broker Alex Veljancevski , director of Eventus Financial. https://lnkd.in/gyZ-nRJd #millennials #propertyinvestors #generationaltrends #Australianproperty #brokernews #Australianbroker
