A collegiate industry body of the manufacturers and suppliers of non-domestic fan equipment
About us
The Fan Manufacturers Association of Australia and New Zealand (FMA-ANZ) is a collegiate body of the manufacturers and suppliers of non-domestic fan equipment speaking in one voice to represent the needs and wishes of the association. The drive for higher energy efficiencies is impacting many industries. It has been suggested that 20% of all “industrial power” is consumed in fan products. As an industry we have to face this challenge and work with regulatory bodies in both Australia and New Zealand such that our non-domestic fan equipment industry can thrive and grow.

On Friday 15 November, FMAANZ held their Annual General Meeting at the University College in Melbourne. Thank you to our member company representatives from ebm-papst, Colair Pty Ltd, Pacific Ventilation, ZIEHL-ABEGG SE, Fantech and Cyclo International for their attendance. A special thankyou to our Guest Speaker Mark Vender, Advocacy and Policy AIRAH, and Chair of the Materials & Embodied Carbon Leaders’ Alliance Working Group for Building Services and our special guest, CEO Sami Zheng from AIRAH. Mark held a very engaging talk on embodied carbon within the building services space. Chair Report 2024: This year we have been fortunate to have significant engagement with the ABCB, and various standards committees to help improve the standards and codes that Fan Manufacturers comply with. Regarding NCC2025, FMA-ANZ submitted proposals for change and had access to the ABCB to improve Section J6D5 Fans and Systems. Over the course of the drafting stage, we had numerous abilities to help shape this section and correct some of the issues that members had with the draft. FMA-ANZ also were part of the standard committees revising AS 1668.2 and AS4740. In AS1668.2 continuous ventilation provisions were added which allow fan manufacturers to sell different types of fans. Importantly, the new revision of AS1668.2 has been referenced in the NCC. I also want to specifically acknowledge Simon Bradwell (ebm-papst). While Simon is not seeking re-election next year, he was instrumental in founding FMA-ANZ and served as our chairman for many years. Simon’s vision of an industry body that could engage with government to drive change in energy efficiency matters came to pass and we all now benefit from his foresight. As always, FMA-ANZ exists for all of our members, and this includes all markets and locations. Therefore, if you or your businesses have any ideas on how FMA-ANZ can help your business or have any areas where we may be of assistance, feel free to share these with us so that we can investigate. Thank you and your respective companies once again for your assistance and continued support of FMA-ANZ. Kerry Dumicich – Chair.

Australia remains free from many of the world's most dangerous hitchhiker pests, which pose significant threats to our industries, economy, environment, and way of life. This success is due to our robust biosecurity system, which effectively prevents these pests from entering and establishing themselves here. Are you aware that all manufacturers supplying fans into the USA market after the 29th April 2024 now need to ensure that they comply with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) test procedures for fans and blowers. The appropriate Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) can be found at https://lnkd.in/gvaubkuM
