FCA welcomes the findings released by the Clean Energy Council today from independent body Freshwater. These latest results show that 70% of all Australians back the development of new renewable energy projects. This mirrors the poll FCA commissioned last year, that found 7 in 10 rural Australians support clean energy projects on farmland in their own communities. "This latest polling further demonstrates that clean energy projects are a priority for rural Australians," said FCA CEO Natalie Collard. "This means that regional energy infrastructure upgrades need to be at the forefront of policy and planning for the future." Farmers and regional Australians working towards strong, opportunity-rich climate policies for farming communities.
About us
Farmers for Climate Action is a movement of farmers, agricultural leaders and rural Australians working to influence Australia to adopt strong climate policies by growing the number of farmers, farming communities and elected representatives championing ambitious action. We connect farmers with each other and support them to advocate for and enact climate solutions both on and off farm. We are independent, non-profit and non-partisan. We represent 8,000 farmers across Australia, and our supporter base includes over 35,000 Australians committed to climate action for agriculture. Our members and our Board can be found across the country from the tropical north of Queensland to the cooler climes of Tasmania, and from the wine growing regions of Western Australia right across to the sheep and cropping farms of New South Wales. Our staff members are spread across Australia, working remotely and from our office hubs. We work closely with people and organisations across the agricultural and climate sectors to find opportunities to tackle the challenge of climate change and ensure rural communities’ interests are represented. We are a member of the National Farmers’ Federation and a member of the Climate Action Network Australia. We believe that if we grow the number of farmers, their communities and their representatives who are leading on climate-smart farming solutions and championing strong economy-wide climate policy, we can influence governments to implement climate policies that mitigate climate change and benefit rural communities. 🚀 Introducing the Lived Experience Panel for the Developer Rating Scheme 🧑🌾 We’re excited to announce the Lived Experience Panel, supported by The Energy Charter to ensure that landholders and community members have a real voice in shaping the Developer Rating Scheme for renewable energy projects. 🔹 Background The Developer Rating Scheme (DRS) was a key recommendation from the Community Engagement Review by the Australian Energy Infrastructure Commissioner at the request of the Commonwealth Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen MP. ❓It’s goal? To improve trust, transparency and accountability in renewable energy developments by encouraging better-practice engagement from developers. 🔹 Who’s involved? The Lived Experience Panel brings together landholders and community members from across Australia who have hosted or engaged with renewable energy projects at various stages of development, construction and operation. The Panel is independently chaired by Charlie Prell (pictured below with his kelpie, Roy), former wind farm host and ex-Chair of Farmers for Climate Action and is supported by the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW), RE-Alliance, Farmers for Climate Action and the Office of the Australian Energy Infrastructure Commissioner (AEIC). 🔹 Why It Matters? The Panel provides real-world insights into how the DRS should be designed to ensure it delivers meaningful benefits for communities. From landholder experiences to local council engagement, the Panel is helping shape a fairer and more transparent renewable energy sector. 🌱 Collaboration is key to building trust in the energy transition. We look forward to sharing updates as the Panel continues its work to drive better community outcomes in renewable energy development. 🙌 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g343cSbF #BetterTogether #EnergyTransition #CommunityEngagement #RenewableEnergy #TrustAndTransparency #LivedExperience

Last Friday, FCA CEO Natalie Collard attended the Farmer of the Year award ceremony, celebrating the resilience, innovation, and dedication of Australian farmers. A huge congratulations to David, Karen, and Jake Altmann, this year's Farmer of the Year winners. Their zero-grazing dairy farm in Murray Bridge, SA, is a testament to sustainable, high-intensity farming. FCA also wants to acknowledge and celebrate all the outstanding farmers recognised at the event. Their contributions to Australian agriculture are invaluable, and their commitment to innovation is inspiring. A special thank you to Coles Group, The Weekly Times, and James Wagstaff for shining a light on the hard work and achievements of our nation's farmers. #Farmforever #Sustainablefarming #Climateaction

Great initiative. The Ford F-150 Lightning is more than “Low-Emissions Machinery”. It has exactly “zero” scope 1 emissions and it’s an absolute work horse. AUSEV® Advanced Manufacturing Queensland Farmers for Climate Action
🚜 Empowering Farmers with Low-Interest Loans for Low-Emissions Machinery 🌱 The Federal Government today has announced a $300M Emissions Reduction Incentive Program to support farmers in transitioning to low-emission trucks, utes, and heavy machinery. Through a partnership with NAB and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, eligible farmers can now access loans 1.15% below market rates, providing an opportunity to invest in hybrid, electric, and hydrogen-powered equipment while maintaining profitability. With loans ranging from $1M to $5M, this initiative could save farmers up to $50,000 per year on interest costs, helping them future-proof their operations while contributing to national emissions reduction goals. FCA CEO Natalie Collard has praised this "carrot, not stick" approach, emphasizing that farmers are eager to embrace lower-emission technology—provided they have the right financial support. With climate challenges such as droughts and bushfires already impacting agriculture, this program offers a practical and cost-effective solution to help farmers adapt and thrive. This initiative is a significant step toward a cleaner, more resilient farming future and helps keep our farmers, farming forever. By reducing financial barriers, it ensures that farmers have the flexibility to adopt sustainable solutions on their own terms—continuing Australia’s legacy of clean, green, and innovative agriculture. 💡 A farmer? Make sure you sign up for early bird tickets for the Farming Forever National Summit, where low emissions technology will be part of our programme, tickets via link below.
