We recently had the pleasure of hosting an open day at FCR to introduce our clients and industry partners to the new CG Drives & Automation Emotron local assembly service. This event was a great opportunity for attendees to experience firsthand the technical advantages and flexibility that our local Emotron assembly offers to the Australian automation industry. Our newly launched service enables us to assemble Emotron’s Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) locally, providing a significant reduction in lead times, minimised costs, and enhanced local support. Following the announcement of our accreditation as CG Drives & Automation’s Accredited Top Tier Global Partner, we’re excited to share more about the process behind this milestone. This rigorous accreditation process was conducted in collaboration with Emotron’s Technical Director Shibu George, who worked closely with our technology department and engineers (Venkat Soun, juan tellez and Yuri Galenson). Over several days, Shibu ensured that every step of our assembly and quality assurance processes adhered to Emotron’s stringent standards. This guarantees that all Variable Speed Drives built in our facility meet Emotron’s reliability, performance, and safety benchmarks. The accreditation also ensures that every product is backed by Emotron’s factory support and official warranty. “Further to my audit visit and my internal report to our HO – the stacking centre at FCR has been approved. 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀! 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗹𝘆? In the industrial automation industry, each project brings unique challenges, and our recent work on a basketball winch solution is no exception. This project allowed us to demonstrate our engineering expertise and deliver a tailored, reliable solution that meets the customer’s unique requirements.   🔷 Application: The customer needed a robust system to lift and securely hold a basketball hoop using a winch mechanism. Their primary challenge was to size a geared motor that could handle the required torque without needing a brake motor—simplifying the system while ensuring safety and performance.   🔷 Our Solution: We specified a self-locking MOTOVARIO S.p.A. NMRV-P worm gearbox, paired with an AC motor and a Lenze i510 Variable Speed Drive (VSD) for precise control. To complete the solution, we included a Rotary Cam switch to integrate into the control system. The worm gearbox with a 100:1 ratio provided the essential self-locking feature, eliminating the need for additional braking components and ensuring the load remains stable.   🔷 Why the Customer Chose Us: Our team provided a complete, end-to-end solution, from engineering support through to commissioning. As a one-stop supplier, we ensured the solution met every technical specification while simplifying procurement and implementation for our client. One of our customers had been using variable speed drives that, while reliable, posed a challenge due to their bulky size. These drives took up a considerable amount of space in their electrical panels, limiting the compactness of the setup. Faced with rising production demands and space constraints, the customer needed a more efficient solution that maintained the same level of performance. That’s when we introduced them to the Lenze i550 drives. Our timing couldn’t have been better! The slim and modular design of the i550 series allows for installation in a “bookshelf” configuration, which means the drives can be stacked side by side. By downsizing the panel size, the customer was able to significantly reduce costs in panel construction, providing a major financial benefit alongside operational improvements. Additionally, the Lenze i550 brought several other key advantages: ◾ Profinet communication for seamless integration into existing systems, simplifying control and connectivity. ◾ Integrated STO (Safe Torque Off), eliminating the need for extra components while maintaining compliance with safety standards. ◾ Exceptional performance and reliability, fully matching, and in some cases surpassing, the competitor’s drives they had been using.   The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with our customer now benefiting from a more streamlined and cost-effective solution.
