Big changes in aged care expected after reforms announced by the Australian Government. I've been closely following the updates coming in around the Aged Care Bill 2024, analysing their potential impact on care providers’ financial viability and the residents they serve. Key takeaways: 🏦Funding model overhaul: The new means-tested contributions for residential care and retention of 2% per annum of RAD amount for 5 years will require providers to adapt their financial strategies quickly. 🏡Increased provider responsibilities: With new quality standards and regulatory powers, we must elevate our compliance and care delivery processes. 💻 Opportunity for innovation: The reforms create space for tech-driven solutions to streamline operations and enhance care quality. These changes present both challenges and opportunities. The increased complexity in funding models and pressure of increased care minutes will demand sophisticated management systems. Funding management will be more critical than ever. At FicusBridge, we're already updating our solutions to help our provider partners navigate these changes efficiently, ensuring they understand and adapt to changes in the AN-ACC model, care minutes and star ratings while delivering high-quality care. For our senior residents, the reforms aim to improve care quality and provide more options for ageing in place. The lifetime contribution cap of $130,000 offers some financial predictability, which is welcome. However, to ensure the highest standard of care for their residents under these new regulations, providers will also be subject to greater scrutiny, inevitably resulting in greater administrative pressures through even more rigorous manual documentation and management of updates on portals, which would impact precious direct care minutes time with residents. As we move towards the July 2025 implementation, it's essential for providers to start preparing now. We need to focus on: 1️⃣Upgrading our systems to handle new AN-ACC amounts and care minute targets. 2️⃣Providing staff with adequate information & education to meet the new quality standards. 3️⃣Enhancing our data management capabilities. At FicusBridge, we're committed to supporting the sector through this transition. Have a question about how we can help? In the last two months, FicusBridge has been working closely with Vacenti Aged Care to strengthen their funding processes. The results have been outstanding! Through tailored education and robust processes, we've seen: - Significant improvement in clinical documentation - Increased staff confidence - Empowerment of their new AN-ACC RN, Shilpa Shilpa has been a star, accurately identifying funding opportunities and taking timely actions through our mentoring and funding strategies. This has led to Vacenti Aged Care management team not worrying about funding operations anymore and focusing on what matters the most, quality of care. Proud of Shilpa's achievements and our collaboration with Vacenti Aged Care. Looking forward to replicating this success to other Vacenti homes over the next few months. Here's to more success stories in aged care and living up to our mission of empowering aged care providers!💪🌟
