Last week Defence Tasmania featured 11 Tasmanian organisations at Land Forces 2024 in Melbourne, the region’s largest international land defence exposition. The event provides Australian businesses the opportunity to showcase equipment, technology and services to defence, government and international industry, and provides a key opportunity to Tasmanian businesses in this space. The 144 square metre Defence Tasmania stand included the Australian Maritime College, CBG Systems, Currawong Engineering, Elphinstone, HENSOLDT Australia, Jayben Group, Lightning Protection International, Performatec, Pivot Maritime International, Sentinel Boats and Storemasta.

Following the successful off-berth construction and commissioning of TasRail’s new Shiploader at the Port of Burnie, the shutdown window to install the new Shiploader onto Berth 5 has commenced.  The shutdown for the installation commenced on Monday (19/8). By Wednesday evening (21/8) all existing Shiploader assets had been safely and successfully removed from the berth. The onsite team is now preparing to install the new reclaim system and associated infrastructure, along with the new wharf galleries, and to move the new Shiploader onto the berth.   Over the coming weeks, the new Shiploader and galleries are planned to be fully installed and ready for in-situ commissioning, followed by the arrival of the first vessel to commence product commissioning.   After 50+ years of reliable service to the West Coast mining industry, the old Shiploader, and associated assets, will be disassembled and removed from the site during this time, as we transition to the new, modern, high-capacity Shiploader.   TasRail thanks everyone involved in getting to this key milestone in the new Shiploader project and those who continue to make the shutdown successful. #infrastructurenews #infrastructureinvestment #miningnews #exportnews #madeintasmania #SL2024 #ausgovtfunded #morethanarailway #wearetasrail Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing & Energy Council (TMEC)

In March 2024 Elphinstone Pty Ltd partnered with Jetcrete Oz Pty Ltd to trial the new #Elphinstone #E15 7m3 Agitator at Bluestone Mines Tasmania Joint Venture Pty Ltd in Tasmania. The feedback from Jetcrete has been excellent and has assisted Elphinstone to make further improvements to enhance the features, safety and operator experience.
