Promoting kindness, empathy and compassion in children ultimately reducing mental health issues, bullying and suicide.

About us

Given the alarming statistics on bullying and mental health issues in children, it’s undeniable that the world could use a little more kindness. Mental health issues are leading to suicide, the biggest killer of our Australian youth. flyhighbillie is now trading as the b kinder foundation. Through early intervention, our evidence-based well being programs and b kinder workbooks empower and inspire children in their pivotal years to become kinder, more empathetic & more compassionate. Our annual b kinder day takes place on 22nd June with schools, businesses and communities from all around the world taking part. Our unique, positive, tangible b kinder workbooks have been designed by teachers and psychologist for primary schools. The b kinder workbooks align with the PDHPE K-6 Australian curriculum. The workbooks embed the social, emotional learning PDHPE units which incorporate the core values with a particular emphasis on kindness. The activities within the b kinder workbooks also support teachers to meet the specific learning outcomes for each stage associated with the Personal and Social Capability, one of the General Capabilities, outlined in the Australian Curriculum. The b kinder workbooks instigate conversations that can be difficult for the young to communicate. They help build resilience and confidence ultimately helping reduce mental health issues, bullying and suicide.

This is a fantastic article by Andrew Swinand of Inspired Thinking Group (ITG) in the Harvard Business Review about the huge impact of incorporating kindness into every workspace. Last year I was extremely lucky to be introduced to Kevin Smith founder of Kindness Worldwide. I am now extremely honoured to have been appointed an Ambassador for Kindness Worldwide. I am looking forward to collaborating with all these incredible people and believe that together, we can create a wave of change through small, consistent conversations around kindness.  To quote Kevin: “Our vision ‘to create a culture of kindness in communities throughout the world’ cannot be achieved without the leadership and support of the world’s foremost experts and kindness advocates across multiple disciplines. Our story is captivating global attention because it reveals the transformative power of kindness possessed by every individual. No act of kindness is too small to make a difference.” https://lnkd.in/gBAJaWX5 bkinderfoundation.org #bkinder

When Proserpine State High School became a b kinder school, they asked if their student leaders would like to apply to become a one of their b kinder ambassadors. We wanted to share how important these positions are for their students and how role models can impact all the students within the school community. This was one of the nominations: "I believe being a kindness ambassador would assist me in building leadership and teamwork skills as well as being able to give back to our school community. Tessa Jolley was a leader in my care group and implemented this charity initiative in the school. Seeing Tessa's passion and dedication to not only this cause, but all other schools events inspired me to go for leadership as I want to give back. Creating this legacy will inspire others to be more involved and I would love to be there to help create it. Thank you for your consideration". Allegra bkinderfoundation.org #bkinder

"Through our participation in the b kinder school initiative this year, we have been able to see the significant impact that teaching kindness and emotional intelligence can have on young leaders and on our whole school community. This initiative is an exciting opportunity for student leaders to further develop their leadership skills through the lens of kindness, empathy, and positive social change". Monique Carter – Principal Lansdowne Crescent Primary School #bkinder To find out how to become a b kinder school visit: https://lnkd.in/gnjkFWRC

"Our school is deeply grateful for the opportunity to participate in the b kinder school program in 2024. The program’s unique approach—combining the science behind kind actions with the chance to engage with students from other schools—has been truly eye-opening. Our students have developed a greater appreciation for how small acts of kindness can make a profound difference in the lives of others and the world around us" Katherine Zerounian, Principal Redfern Jarjum College To find out more about b kinder schools visit: https://lnkd.in/gnjkFWRC #bkinder bkinderfoundation.org

Fantastic to see our first b kinder council sign up at GLENORCHY CITY COUNCIL. To have b kinder councils build on from our b kinder schools initiative if wonderful. Glenorchy Mayor Sue Hickey said it was also "a great opportunity for Council to expand on its current programs and activities and build positive pathways through kindness, compassion, empathy and belonging". “An important focus of Council is to contribute towards building stronger and more resilient local communities,” she said. Similar to the b kinder school program, Council has committed to five key kindness initiatives, including leading an annual b kinder day event, establishing a designated “kindness space” within Council and recognising kindness in others. Council will also host at least one b kinder workshop annually and support a minimum of three local schools per year to become b kinder schools. We are so excited to announce that commencing in 2025, the b kinder foundation will be hosting an annual b kinder summit for all our b kinder schools.   These summits will be available to b kinder schools in NSW, QLD and TAS. We will be extending these to include WA and VIC by 2026. Partnering with the acclaimed Illuminate Education Australia, the all day b kinder summits will provide student leaders the opportunity to engage in interactive and collaborative learning. It will combine design thinking, entrepreneurship, social and ethical understanding, encouraging cultivating essential relationship skills and strategies to lead with kindness and compassion.  The summits will provoke these student leadership teams to ask questions, to ponder and explore, to stretch themselves and see things from another's perspective. Ultimately they will be empowered to become more empathetic, considerate and resilient human beings.  To find out how to become a b kinder school, visit: https://lnkd.in/gnjkFWRC or contact us at info@bkinderfoundation.org bkinderfoundation.org #bkinder

When the b kinder foundation talks about the impact of kindness, it's not just about soft gestures; it's about shifting attitudes, systems, and the way we value each other. It’s about creating a culture where kindness is a foundation for education, policy, leadership, and community.  The more we can embed our resources and values like empathy from the very beginning of education, the more likely we are to prevent harmful cycles.  b kinder is about creating a wave of change through small, consistent conversations around kindness. Our resources are an opportunity for children to practice kindness and empathy, and the more they practice them, the more it spreads. We all can, and should, be part of the solution. Change starts with us. bkinderfoundation.org #bkinder
