🦠 World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week 2024 🦠 This World AMR Awareness Week, we’re joining the global movement to Educate, Advocate, and Act now against antimicrobial resistance (AMR). AMR threatens the health of people, animals, and the environment, and addressing it requires action from all of us. At FSANZ, we’re playing our part by investigating antimicrobial-resistant bacteria in Australia’s food supply. This work supports the Australian Government's strategy to address AMR, using a One Health approach that considers the health of people, animals, and ecosystems. We’ll share our findings early next year, supporting ongoing efforts to address AMR and ensure the safety of our food. Together, we can prevent antimicrobial resistance. #WorldAMRWeek #AMR #CombatAMR #OneHealth #FSANZ #FoodSafety

Australian Food Safety Week 2024: Look before you cook! 🔍 Did you know that up to a third of people across Australia and New Zealand are unsure about what date marks on food really mean? Understanding labels like use-by and best-before dates can help consumers avoid foodborne illnesses and maintain confidence in food safety. 🛑 Use-by dates = safety first! Don’t consume or sell food after this date. ✔️ Best-before dates = quality matters, but the food is still safe after this date. Date marks are a vital safety tool for everyone in the food supply chain—from suppliers to retailers to consumers. Let’s work together to understand and check food labels—look before you cook! #FoodSafety #LookBeforeYouCook #DateMarks #FoodLabelling Food Safety Information Council

New requirements for infant formula products in Australia came into effect on 13 September 2024. The changes extend to the labelling, composition and sale of infant formula products. You may see products apply the changes sooner than others, which means products you are familiar with could start to look different. A five year transition period (inclusive of stock in trade) applies, meaning infant formula products will have until 13 September 2029 to comply with the new regulation.
