Fox & Hare Financial Advice is shutting up shop.    It's great to be popular. And we get a real kick every time we open our inbox to see it's exploding with the names of those who want to be members.     But we're starting to feel a bit like Venice. Like we're being loved to death.     We build in-depth, life-changing plans and strategies for our members and to do that properly we need time.     We need to sit down and get to know the ins and outs of their lives, their dreams and their aspirations.     We need to focus fully on the needs of those who are already members.     So, we're stepping away from lightspeed growth and entering our VIP era.     The doors are closing, the velvet rope is clipped, Fox & Hare is officially the Berghain of finance.  There is a wait list available on our website for those who will settle for nothing less. A lot of people are no longer interested in celebrating Australia Day.     A lot of people are.     Either way, it’s not our place as an employer to tell our people what they should and should not be celebrating.     We repeat.     It is not our place to be telling our people who or what they should be celebrating.     So, at Fox & Hare Financial Advice, we’ve implemented a Public Holiday Swap policy to make every holiday interchangeable.    If you want to celebrate Diwali 🪔 instead of Christmas 🎄 the policy means you are free to do it.     It means that if you want to celebrate Lunar New Year 🧧 over Labour Day - 加油！    And it also means that, if you wish, you’re free to celebrate none! Then add an extra 9 days to your annual leave. “My proudest moment as a financial adviser?   I helped a single father spend more time with his children.     He didn’t want to retire early or become a multi-millionaire; he was actually planning on returning to full-time work later in life.     All he wanted was to spend more time with his kids before they grew up.      But he was worried it wasn’t a ‘realistic’ option – that because he had debt, and that he hadn’t started investing earlier, he’d miss out on the golden years with his kids because he had to work.     Luckily, that wasn’t the case. We had the luxury of time, and I worked out that - with some pretty strong measures - it wasn’t impossible. It would be hard! But it wasn’t impossible.     And he did it!    He stuck to the plan, and he paid down his debts. He invested the money he was saving and together, we made it happen.     He got his wish and was able to spend a couple of years caring for his family full time.     It was one of the first times I saw that a financial plan doesn’t have to be just about getting to retirement early, getting the biggest sum of money or the most expensive car.     Sometimes it’s just about spending more time with the kids. Luke is a husband, father of two and dog dad. Two years ago, just a month before his wife was due to give birth, his family lost their home.    “It was my biggest fear that when the baby did come, we would be living in the shelter with nowhere to go,” says Helaina, Luke’s wife.    The couple had five weeks to find a home in the midst of a national housing crisis. They knew that if they didn’t find a place before the baby was born, she would be taken into state custody – a terrifying situation.    “The ideal outcome was to find a two-bedroom place,” Luke said.     And this is where Fox & Hare partner charity, Hobart City Mission, helped to change the family's life.    Just ten days before baby Scarlett was born, they helped Luke and Helaina secure a home.    “Without the help we got, we wouldn’t have found this place.     We wouldn’t have our family, and we wouldn’t have a place to live for this Christmas. We are so grateful”    Fast forward two years, and the transformation is remarkable.      Luke and Helaina, now a family of four with the addition of their second daughter, Autumn, spent Christmas together in their home.     A stark contrast to the uncertainty and fear they faced just two short years ago.    Gifts provided by Hobart City Mission’s Christmas Assistance Program (CAP) added another layer of joy to their holiday.      A $14,000 donation, made on behalf of Fox & Hare’s members, helped provide gifts and create a “real Christmas” for Luke, Helaina, Scarlett, and Autumn.     “You’ve given our family a real Christmas and we’ll never forget it,” Luke adds, his gratitude palpable.    There’s no words to express the depth of our appreciation and gratitude for what you’ve allowed us to have.”    Luke & Helaina’s story is a powerful reminder of the difference that positive choices can make.      “Our members’ choice to work with Fox & Hare means they’re not only taking a positive step toward a future where they’ll experience less uncertainty, more security, and be empowered to live a life that they love for themselves.     They’re also extending those opportunities to many others who might otherwise miss out’ says Liam Hartley, Fox & Hare Community & Marketing Lead.     “On their behalf, a portion of Fox & Hare Financial Advice’s revenues are distributed among programs that help lift children and young people – just like Luke & Helaina’s family – out of poverty    Giving them the opportunity to pursue an education, a career, and a life that they love.”    📸: Hobart City Mission’s Christmas Assistance Program 2024, proudly supported by Fox & Hare Financial Advice.
