It was a privilege to host Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Premier of Western Australia, Roger Cook at Kwinana Bulk Terminal this week and hear the Prime Minister’s views on both the role of WA driving the nation’s economic growth, and how strong road networks support successful ports. The Prime Minister and Premier announced a partnership to deliver a $700 million upgrade to the Kwinana Freeway - road works which will be a key facilitator of the Westport project. Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti and Ports Minister David Michael also attended. Widening the Kwinana Freeway will add around 50 per cent capacity to the upgraded sections, easing congestion for motorists and improving the efficiency of moving freight on a road that typically carries 100,000 vehicles every day. This investment will also support the operations of the future Westport project, while improving safety and delivering congestion relief for commuters. The upgrades to road infrastructure will also support the growing industrial areas and defence assets on the Western Trade Coast. Every day, Fremantle Ports managers go out into the workplace to make safety observations. Well-prepared observers can bring new eyes to everyday activities, particularly high-risk ones. Such observations can help identify hazards early on, whether they arise from equipment, practices, the environment or non-conformance with procedures. By systematically tracking the resulting data, over time we can better understand our own safety risks and opportunities to improve. Here, our Manager Strategy and Planning Alice DeSilva takes an up-close look at pilot transfers. #safety #marinepilot #ports #fremantle

The Fremantle Ports team joined colleagues from across the maritime industry for a very festive hamper packing event this morning at the Flying Angels Club. We are proud to sponsor the 700 Christmas hampers packed for seafarers calling at the Port of Fremantle during the Christmas week. The initiative coordinated by the Fremantle Port Welfare Committee, is now in its second year and pleasingly, the number of hampers has doubled due to the joint efforts from across the industry. Thank you to our colleagues and fellow sponsors Mission to Seafarers Australia, ITF, Fremantle Pilots, West Coast Pilots, Kimberley Pilot Group, Svitzer Australia, Alcoa, bp, HSA Marine , Jetwave Marine , Sturrock Grindrod Maritime, Monson Agencies, DP World, Patrick Terminals, Australian Maritime Safety Authority, Propel Marine, Ship Agency Services, Synergy Group, Gulf Agency Company, CBH Group, Bureau Veritas Group, Three Ocean Maritime and individual contributors. And to the seafarers who will be in port at Fremantle this Christmas, our very best wishes to you all for a safe and happy festive season. #seafarers #community #christmas #volunteering #fremantleports

It's not solely trade that the Port of Fremantle handles. We also provide a vital service to a wide variety of research and specialist ships, including Japan's own well-known and loved Antarctic research and supply vessel, Shirase, which docked yesterday at Victoria Quay. Arriving from Yokohama, the 138m Shirase will bunker and take on supplies, before continuing south to the ice next Monday. We wish Captain Kazuki Saito and his crew a happy (and sunny) stay in Fremantle and know the local Japanese community enjoy the ship's periodic stops here. #shirase #japan #fremantle Clip Media
