The discussion highlighted how Indigenous engagement played a pivotal role in shaping the design of the new Bathurst Hospital, ensuring it reflects the rich cultural heritage of the region while delivering exceptional healthcare outcomes. Renewables projects can provide income and jobs to First Nations landowners. Access to clean energy can also help First Nations people protect their culture and heritage and remain on Country. Approx. 1 million jobs will be created as part of Australia’s renewable energy transition, meaning 40,000 of those are mandated for First Nations. We know many First Nations communities are experiencing the impacts of climate changes as well as unreliable and expensive power (energy poverty). This global framework acknowledges the dignity, respect, and freedoms that Indigenous communities deserve while preserving their culture, language, and rights to land and resources. The Declaration reminds us that the rights of Indigenous Peoples are human rights. It challenges us to take action in ensuring their voices are heard and that their contributions to society are valued and respected. 𝘼𝙨 𝙬𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙩𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙡𝙚𝙩'𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧: - The protection of Indigenous lands and resources. - The recognition of cultural and linguistic heritage. - The empowerment of Indigenous leaders and communities in decision-making processes. - A future where justice and reconciliation are not just ideals but realities.
