Connecting people with cancer to free complementary therapies
About us
My name is Faye Hartley-Youens and I am the founder of The Golden Rose Cancer Collective. Our goal is to provide individuals living with cancer the opportunity to access complementary therapies at no cost to themselves. Through The Golden Rose Cancer Collective, we're bringing together CAM practitioners who generously donate their time and experience, with members seeking therapies, on our online platform. This platform will also serve as an educational resource, introducing CAM modalities and practitioners and how they can support treatment side effects and disease symptoms. I'm proud to share that The Golden Rose Cancer Collective is now a registered charity with DGR status, and we're moving into the first phase of our launch. During this phase, we're focused on fundraising and inviting expressions of interest from therapists and practitioners who would like to become part of our collective. Join us on this meaningful journey as we make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. Follow our page for updates and opportunities to get involved.

Did you know? Some types of lung cancer are so sneaky they hijack immune cells to fuel their growth! Recent research found that lung adenocarcinomas exploit the metabolism of macrophages—immune cells that usually help fight disease—to support their own survival and growth. It's like a cancerous takeover of the body's natural defenses. By understanding these processes scientists can come up with more effective treatments. Read more about it here. https://lnkd.in/gZKSmG9b

Great idea!.
We’re working with OUTpatients, the UK’s leading LGBTQIA cancer charity, to transform cancer care into a more inclusive environment for everyone. We’re supporting OUTpatients by funding their peer support service lead. The peer support service coordinates and runs support groups and support services for both LGBTIQ+ people with cancer, and those who love and support them, such as partners, carers, friends and families, including chosen families. OUTpatients spoke to us about the necessity of their services in the landscape of cancer support today. “Alongside running support groups, OUTpatients’ peer support service offers advice and advocacy to those who reach out to us directly. As part of our advocacy, we engage with cancer centres, do outreach at patient conferences and Pride events, and create new support options for our community. Making sure cancer care and services reach and support more LGBTIQ+ people can be a lifeline to those in need. “Data shows us that our community has poorer experiences of cancer care, and access to early detection through screening is limited. For example, errors in the cervical and breast screening invitations system means trans people who are eligible are not invited for screening if they have a male patient record. “Being educated on the issues that face LGBTIQ+ people in cancer care is a great way to make services more inclusive. OUTpatients runs tailored education sessions for organisations of all sizes. Our unique expertise has been sought internationally across different cancer settings, where we work closely with professionals across the whole spectrum of cancer care.”

Pancreatic cancer is often misunderstood, leading to misinformation that can hinder awareness and early detection. Pancreatic cancer is projected to become the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths by 2030. Organisations like the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) are investing heavily in research for early detection strategies and precision medicine to improve outcomes. This kind of myth-busting highlights the importance of accurate information and ongoing research in improving outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients. Early symptom recognition, understanding risk factors, and supporting advances in treatment are vital steps forward. For more details on pancreatic cancer, visit resources Cancer Council’s downloadable booklet on Pancreatic Cancer or The Australian Pancreatic Cancer Foundation (Pankind)

Leukemia doesn’t wait, and neither should we. Know the early warning signs: persistent fatigue, frequent infections, easy bruising or bleeding, unexplained weight loss, and swollen lymph nodes. Early diagnosis can make a difference. Let’s continue to support research, spread awareness, and stand by those affected. Alongside medical treatment, natural therapies like acupuncture, proper nutrition, and mindfulness can help manage symptoms and improve well-being. #cancer #leukemia #cancersupport
