PAX 2024 is over and signals our last convention of the year! 🤩 Another record-breaking show, with 1300+ mystery boxes completely SOLD OUT 💨 It's phenomenal to see PAX growing every year, it simply means we might not be able to say tabletop gaming "niche" for much longer! As much as we love travelling all over the country meeting our customers from all over, the convention team will be taking it slow and chill for the rest of the year. 🎲 We rolled out a new initiative to set-up young adventurers for success! 🎲 We believe that tabletop gaming can offer unique educational benefits and foster a sense of camaraderie among students. That's why we're so proud to have gotten the chance to teach the wonderful students of Waverley Junior their first Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. Dungeons & Dragons is an imagination driven, storytelling game where players take on imaginary characters and work together to overcome challenges in a fantasy world, guided by a storyteller called the Dungeon Master. They'll learn to think on their feet, work with their fellow adventurers to finish quests and think outside the box in extremely creative ways. The best thing? All you need to play D&D is an understanding of the rules, a pen, and your imagination. Over the course of 4 weeks, our team members went to Waverly College to teach their Junior students the basics of D&D and guide them through their first adventure. By Week 3, we were teaching students how to be Dungeon Masters so they could takeover running the campaigns for their fellow students without our assistance in the future. A big thank you to Mathew Edwards and his team of Dungeon Masters. They were the ones that made this initiative possible! We can't wait to see the adventures these students embark on.

Good Games Assemble! 🦸 Last week, we ran the first Good Games Conference since the pandemic. For us, the Good Games Conference is a chance for representatives from all our stores come together and share best practices and engage with important suppliers. We talk about what's doing well for our gaming communities, what can be done better, and what plans we're rolling out to be the BEST game stores. This year we even had our General Manager from our USA stores join us to bring news from across the seas. With 33 stores nationwide and 2 in the USA, we are bigger than ever and we have no plans of slowing down. With every game that leaves our shelves and every store we open, we plan to continue leading the way to share tabletop gaming with as many people as we can. Thank you to our suppliers for coming along for the ride. We had the pleasure of helping Modern Star Pty Ltd host their pre-launch media event for The Walt Disney Company's Trading Card Game: Disney Lorcana! Some local Aussie content creators swung by to try their hand at the game and feel the product for themselves. 🎂 Many of our guests didn't have a Trading Card Game background, so for them this was their first! It's amazing to see such a beloved IP bring an entirely new audience to the hobby. It's a huge honour to be selected by Wizards of the Coast to run a CommandFest. Despite it being our third CommandFest we still see ourselves as small fry in the industry, especially in comparison to the scale of events run in the US. So, having the creator of Magic: The Gathering himself, Richard Garfield attend our event despite not having made a public appearance in many years? Surreal. Dr. Garfield was a surprise guest that we didn't announce to our attendees. We honestly couldn't believe he was attending until we saw him in the flesh. When we announced him, the applause in the hall was goosebump inducing! Players were so excited! For many, Magic: The Gathering has changed their lives and given them a community to belong to. Our lucky Saturday players got to meet Dr. Garfield, get their favourite cards signed, and grab some photos to remember an event of a lifetime. Good Games is in the business of fun. Our mission is to make people's lives a better and brighter place through experiencing the joy and community of tabletop gaming. Last weekend during CommandFest, I think it's safe to say we did just that. 😊
