🔥 Keep Batteries Out of Bins! 🔥 Battery fires are a growing risk to our waste and recycling industry. To tackle this issue, Green Industries SA is launching a FREE Embedded Battery Drop-Off Weekend on 23rd and 24th November, 9am to 3pm, and CAWRA is proud to support this important initiative. This trial event provides an opportunity to safely dispose of all those unwanted battery-powered items piling up in our homes, sheds, and workplaces. By properly disposing of these items, we can reduce the risks of fires in our trucks and recycling facilities and help protect our environment. This event focuses on embedded batteries in small appliances, particularly lithium-ion batteries. Our CEO, Leah Maxwell sums it up nicely, “These lithium ion batteries are in such common use across all our homes and are often embedded inside an appliance where you can’t see them. But if you can recharge something, it definitely has a battery inside.” 📅 Drop-off dates: Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24 ⏰ Time: 9 AM - 3 PM 📍 Locations: - Adelaide Waste and Recycling Centre, 181 Morphett Road, North Plympton - Campbelltown City Council Works Depot, 6 Newton Road, Campbelltown - Heathfield Resource Recovery Centre, 32 Scott Creek Road, Heathfield - NAWMA Resource Recovery Centre, Gate 3, Bellchambers Road, Edinburgh All embedded batteries under 20kg will be accepted.
