Koala Crossing is growing on Yuggera Country to provide vital habitat for endangered koala populations in Southeast Queensland. 🌳🐨 This 95-hectare project is restoring part of the Flinders Karawatha Corridor, the largest remaining continuous stretch of open eucalypt forest in the region. Greenfleet is working in partnership with Queensland Trust for Nature to transform this land into a thriving, biodiverse forest. We have planted locally native species including black sheoak (Allocasuarina littoralis) and Queensland bluegum (Eucalyptus tereticornis) to encourage the return of koalas, as well as native insects, birds, and small mammals. Excitingly, koalas have been sighted at the forest since the reforestation project began. We will continue to monitor this progress as the forest grows. This forest was planted in 2016, and is legally protected for 100 years, so it can flourish and provide environmental benefits for decades to come. 💚 Learn more about our work at Koala Crossing: https://lnkd.in/gpcKEj23 #GrowingHope #KoalaHabitat #Wildlife #Sustainability

About us
Greenfleet has delivered climate action for over 25 years. We plant native biodiverse forests to remove carbon emissions on behalf of our supporters and help fight the impacts of climate change. Since 1997, we have planted more than 10.8 million native trees across over 550 legally protected, biodiverse forests in Australia and New Zealand. Greenfleet forests address critical deforestation, capture carbon emissions to protect our climate, reduce soil erosion, improve water quality and restore habitat for wildlife, including many endangered species. Greenfleet is registered as a charity in Australia and eligible tax-deductible donations to Greenfleet have Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status. By offsetting your carbon emissions or donating to Greenfleet, you are taking practical climate action. Together, we can grow our forests and grow climate hope.

Greenfleet protects our forests legally for up to 100 years - but what does that mean? The forests that we restore are legally protected with an on-title agreement, which means they cannot be logged for any reason. This protection is for up to 100 years and remains in place even if the land changes ownership. A major benefit to allowing trees to grow to maturity is that over time, they create homes for all types of native animals. They form tree hollows, where many species make their homes and breed, this includes Endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo, the Swift Parrot and the Leadbeater Possum. Once protected, our forests cannot be impacted by deforestation and offer long term ecological benefits to the environment and wildlife. 🌳 To learn more, click here: https://lnkd.in/gYZ-bZRT #GrowingHope #ClimateHope #100years #oldgrowthforests #Sustainability

Ivory Flat is growing on Yuggera Country, southwest of Brisbane, Queensland. 🌱 This is one of four properties that makes up our Ivory Creek project. Greenfleet has planted native species to deliver climate action by returning this cleared land to native forest. Ivory Flat straddles Ivory Creek, a tributary which leads into the Brisbane Water Catchment. At this project, we are restoring plant species that make up two endangered ecosystems, Dry Rain Forest and Semi-evergreen Vine Thickets. Planting locally native trees is improving soil erosion at this site and enhancing water quality. It will also provide potential habitat for endangered koalas and Great Gliders as it grows. Our revegetation at Ivory Flat will extend and connect to the other three properties to create safe habitat for wildlife to move through the region. Sustainable farming and climate action working together! 💚 Greenfleet’s Ness Creek sits on land traditionally owned by the Boonwurrung people in Victoria’s South Gippsland. This forest was planted when also operating as a thriving free-range egg farm, having been cleared for cattle and sheep grazing nearly a century ago. We are revegetating the parts of the property that cannot be used for farming, and have planted over 30 native tree species to restore the native ecosystem. These images were taken four years apart, in 2020 and then in 2024. This forest is protected for 100 years and will provide habitat for local native birds and wildlife including koalas and glider populations. Greenfleet forest update! 🌳 For over 25 years, Greenfleet has restored legally protected forests in Australia and New Zealand, including our significant impact in South Gippsland, Victoria. Located on Boonwurrung Country, the Strzelecki Nature Link comprises four Greenfleet-owned properties and is home to some of the strongest koala populations in Australia [🐨 Wurneet Laang Laang is the most established project within the Strzelecki Nature Link. Since 2016, Greenfleet has revegetated this 66-hectare property with over 60,000 native trees, some of which are now over 8-metres tall! Bromfield Road is another of the properties, where last year Greenfleet planted 25,000 native trees adjacent to Lang Lang River linking to our Wurneet Laang Laang forest. Our work continued this year at the final two properties within the Strzelecki Nature Link, as we revegetated our Mt Emily and Territory sites. Once restored, these properties will create a 3.5-kilometre contiguous stretch of habitat for Strzelecki Koalas, an endemic species in the area. This project also allows Greenfleet to restore critically endangered tree species such as the Strzelecki Gum (Eucalyptus strzeleckii). By planting locally native tree species, establishing the Strzelecki Nature Link will deliver climate action by removing carbon and ensuring safe passage for wildlife 🌏💚 Read about the Strzelecki Nature Link here: https://lnkd.in/g7Gu3eyd #GrowingHope #NativeWildlife #ClimateAction #Biodiversity #Koalas

By restoring native forests across Australia, Greenfleet understands that we work alongside the longest standing land managers on earth. We were honoured to have Mark Koolmatrie, a proud Ngarrindjeri elder, welcome us and our supporters to Country at our Bull Creek property in South Australia earlier this year. Visiting the site two years in a row, Mark reflected on the difference a year can make when restoring native ecosystems. He shared knowledge of his traditional lands and reflected on the importance of restoring native forests. Greenfleet is restoring this 14-hectare site with locally native plant species, creating a connection with the nearby Cox Scrub Conservation Park. On a recent visit, we planted Desert Banksia (Banksia ornata) and Silver Banksia (Banksia marginata) to provide potential habitat for pygmy possum populations. Mark is also the owner of Kool Tours , where visitors can explore the history and knowledge of Ngarrindjeri Country and discover authentic cultural experiences. Greenfleet understands that the climate action we take goes hand in hand with reconciliation, and we continue to listen to First Nations voices as we work together to restore native ecosystems. Greenfleet's Glendalough project is showing how environmental action and sustainable farming can coexist. The forest is in the rolling hills of Boonwurrung Country in South Gippsland, Victoria. We have revegetated nearly 120 hectares at Glendalough, restoring areas that are too steep or unsuitable for farming. Within three years, some of the trees at Glendalough are over four metres tall! Rebeka and Martin Axon-Johansson run Glendalough Farms on the property, with a focus on regenerative practices. Now, you can buy directly from the farm through Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). Roosting in this native Banksia (Banksia integrifolia) tree is a pair of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos. Spotted on the lands of the Dharawal people in Bonna Point Reserve, south of Sydney. Identified by their golden cheeks, yellow undertail and black plumage it is easy to recognise the gender of these parrots. The males have a black beak and pinkish-red eye-rings while the females have bone-coloured beaks and grey eye-rings. These monogamous parrots often spotted in pairs and stay with the same partner for their whole life which can span up to 80 years. Native to south-east Australia, Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos generally nest in large hollows preferring old eucalypt trees. They feed on larvae, seeds and native grasses. Although they are not listed nationally as threatened, there is a notable population decline due to habitat loss across Victoria, and South Australia where they are listed as Vulnerable. Since 2017, Greenfleet, in partnership with Sutherland Shire Council, has planted 4,850 native trees and shrubs in the Bonna Point Reserve. This work is providing critical habitat and food sources for the region’s birdlife while delivering climate action by removing carbon from the atmosphere.
