Grydale® mobile dust collectors provide significant advantages for various industries by offering flexibility, portability, and effective dust control when and where it is needed. Here are five reasons why mobile dust collectors could benefit your operations: 1. Flexible Deployment Mobile dust collectors can be easily relocated across different areas of a job site, making them ideal for projects that cover multiple locations or phases. This flexibility saves time and resources compared to installing multiple stationary (fixed) systems. 2. Cost Efficiency Mobile units offer an affordable solution for short-term projects or seasonal work since they can be rented and redeployed as necessary. This eliminates the need for a permanent system and reduces long-term maintenance costs. 3. Adaptability for Evolving Requirements Many industries, such as construction and demolition, have shifting needs and sources of dust. A mobile system can quickly adapt to these changes, ensuring dust is consistently managed. 4. Compliance and Safety Mobile dust collectors assist companies in meeting health and safety regulations regardless of their location, ensuring a safer work environment and minimising risks associated with airborne contaminants. 5. Proximity to Dust Source Grydale's internationally patented track-mounted dust collectors can effectively control dust at the source and operate alongside mobile equipment. This enables highly efficient excavation equipment can be used in urban locations or confined underground operations. We currently have stock of a range of mobile equipment ready for short-term hire or purchase. Dust Collectors and Baghouses are two terms that are often interchanged when talking about dust control. However, there are some key differences, primarily relating to their design, filtration mechanism, efficiency, maintenance needs, and suitability for different types of dust and operating environments. 1. Design and Structure Baghouses use vertical fabric bags (often polyester or fibreglass) that trap dust particles as air passes through. Cartridge Dust Collectors utilise pleated cylindrical or oval cartridges, maximising surface area in a compact design and making them smaller than baghouses. 2. Filtration Efficiency Baghouses are effective for larger dust particles and high dust-loading applications but have less surface area than cartridge filters. They excel in collecting coarse and fibrous dust. In contrast, cartridge dust collectors utilise pleated filter media for a larger surface area, making them more efficient in capturing fine particulate matter. 3. Cleaning Method Baghouses and Cartridge Dust Collectors commonly use pulse-jet cleaning systems to remove dust. Baghouses blow compressed air into bags to shake off accumulated dust. Cartridge Dust Collectors, need less frequent and gentler cleaning due to the pleated larger surface area, which allows cleaning to be completed with lower air pressure. 4. Maintenance and Replacement Filter life is dependent on many factors, however typically Baghouses require more frequent maintenance due to their bag size and shape, which leads to more wear and tear, especially with abrasive dust. Replacing bags is often time-consuming and often involves longer system shutdowns. In contrast, Cartridge Filters are easier and quicker to maintain thanks to their compact and pleated design. 5. Applications and Suitability Due to their durability for heavy-duty use, baghouses are suited for industries with high dust loads and abrasive particles. Cartridge Dust Collectors excel in high efficiency for fine dust and are compact, making them suitable for smaller facilities or limited spaces. 6. Space and Cost Efficiency Baghouses need more space due to their longer bag structures, making them ideal for larger facilities. Cartridge Dust Collectors are compact and suitable for space-constrained areas. While they may have a higher initial cost, they can be more cost-effective for operations with fine dust and lower volumes. In summary, baghouses are suited to high-dust, heavy-duty applications with larger particles, while cartridge dust collectors are more efficient for fine dust and limited-space environments. Choosing between the two depends on the type of dust, space constraints, and operational needs. Dust Collectors: An essential part of your dust management plan within Underground Mining and Tunnel Construction Airborne dust created in underground mining and tunnel construction poses serious health risks, particularly in enclosed spaces where ventilation is limited. Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS) dust and other airborne particles released during operations can lead to respiratory diseases. Mobile dust collectors are an effective engineering control used to capture dust at the source, pulling dust-laden air through a series of filters, capturing harmful airborne particles and releasing clean air to the working environment. Controlling dust at the source is crucial in underground settings, where space and airflow is limited. Mobile dust collectors can be strategically positioned to collect dust from dust generating equipment, allowing efficient excavation equipment to operate simultaneously underground, creating multiple working areas and generating operational efficiencies. Investing in dust collectors is about more than regulatory compliance; it's a commitment to worker safety and sustainable practices. As technology advances, new dust collection systems continue to improve efficiency and environmental impact. Grydale® is proud to have been transforming approaches to dust control over the last ten years and have developed innovative, industry-leading technology, including our internationally patented track-mounted dust collectors. What role do dust collectors play in your underground operations? If you'd like to find out more about our innovative solutions, contact us: enquiries@grydale.com.au 1300 929 349

It is widely accepted that dust control regulations are essential for mining operations. They safeguard worker health, enhance community air quality, protect the environment, and ensure operational safety. Have you considered implementing additional controls to minimise dust exposure for your workers and the environment while also boosting your overall operational efficiency? Dust control solutions should not just be about meeting regulatory standards but ensuring your operation is doing everything it can to mitigate the risks and ensure the highest level of safety is in place. Four of the key benefits of using dust collectors as part of your mining operations dust management strategy include: 1) Capturing Fine Dust Particles 2) Reducing Health Risks 3) Maintaining Visibility and Operational Safety 4) Supporting Environmental Protection Grydale is a local manufacturer of fixed and mobile dust collectors that are being used to manage dust from a wide range of mining operations and processes in Australia and overseas. Mobile dust collectors offer air volumes from 6m3/s (12,000CFM) to 60m3/s (125,000CFM) and are available as diesel, electric or hybrid solutions. Skid mounted units are designed when dust collection needs are relatively static, however track mounted units can be used to easily move along with dust generating processes, or for temporary works. Our JMS F-Series, fixed unit dust collectors offer a long-term and cost-effective solution to dust and fume control and are designed to handle high-volume dust loads. They are based on a modular design which provides the flexibility to size the dust control units in relation to the required air volumes. Our engineering team can take site and process drawings to determine air flow requirements and design ducting configuration to achieve a total dust control solution. By adopting effective solutions, you can significantly reduce your environmental impact on surrounding communities. Are you ready to enhance your dust management strategies to not only comply with regulations but also ensure a safer workplace and a more sustainable operation? If yes, please contact us at enquiries@grydale.com.au
