At HAS Foundation, we support the families of children living with life-limiting conditions.

About us

Ella and Jarrod are one of our family partners in the WCH Foundation Beach House project. Three years ago, they lost their beautiful boy, Hunter, at age 12. After a normal pregnancy and delivery, and at just eight weeks old, Hunter had his first seizure. The doctors were never able to clearly diagnose the cause of Hunter’s illness. He spent the final three years of his life with the Palliative Care team at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide. Admitting Hunter needed palliative care was one of the toughest decisions Ella and Jarrod had to make, but once they started it was an enormous relief. Ella describes it feeling as if a “weight was lifted off our shoulders.”

Honored to capture the HAS Foundation Walk with a Pal, commemorating 10 years since Hunter’s passing. The annual walk from Henley Beach to Grange is a beautiful tradition for Hunter’s family and their beloved dog Indi, giving everyone the space to remember, connect, and reflect with pals by their side ❤️

On Sunday November 10, (only 4 weeks away) we will be holding our annual Walk with a Pal community event. This is one of our favourite events on our HAS calendar. This year, it will be 10 year since we said goodbye to Hunter 💔 and one of the ways we like to celebrate him is by walking from Henley Beach to Grange and back again with our friends, family and community. It's a beautiful morning to reflect and connect to not only remember Hunter but many loved ones. And we think it's also a perfect way to create memories with your family, enjoy some time together and Live for the Moment, all for a good cause. ❤️ So why not join us......Registrations are open https://loom.ly/sv0tBU0 #community #support #palliativecare #family #memories #liveforthemoment

Thank you to The Advertiser for sharing our story in the Sunday Mail. Kara Reek and I have been working for 12 months on a workshop for bereaved mum’s, both knowing first hand how hard it is to navigate such immense grief, we both searched for wholelistic tools and techniques to help us move through our heartbreak. Our first “Held by HAS” workshop will be on October 27th, available at no cost for bereaved mum’s that have been supported by palliative care. We are extremely grateful for local business who have partnered with us to bring this workshop to life, Studio Exhale and Bowlsome AU Creating this service is one of the new programs we are launching this year to nurture palliative families and bring connection to others through such a lonely time. More to come soon…… #advertiser #support #community #palliativecare

We have some exciting news.... Our little team at HAS is growing and we are incredibly excited to welcome Kara Reek as our new HAS Operations Manager. A little over 2 years ago when Kara volunteered at one of our packing days, we learned that Kara and her family had been supported by HAS Foundation. That day, when Kara and Ella met there were tears of connection and compassion, both having lived through similar experiences, they have a shared passion to help others on a journey of healing and self-care. Kara signed up to volunteer because she wanted to help other families going through the same heartache in palliative care. From that moment, we knew she was pretty amazing and had to ask her to help us more. So, Kara joined our wonderful volunteer committee to help us with fundraising and events but to also provide another parent's experience of paediatric palliative care to the team. Now, as of today Kara is an official part of the team to help guide HAS into the future as our Operations Manager. Thanks to Kara's initiative we have an exciting new program opening up in October for bereaved mums (stay tuned for more details soon). We are extremely grateful to have her join us and we know beautiful times are ahead for our team and the families we support. ❤️ "I'm so excited to be part of team HAS and be able to help support other families going through the unimaginable”.

🚑 IT’s HERE!!! South Australia’s very own paediatric palliative care transport ambulance, run by our wonderful friends from TLC for Kids HAS Foundation could not be more proud and excited to be the major sponsors here in SA of this fabulous program. Years ago, we decided families needed help and support with transport to appointments and even more importantly, a devoted last memory making opportunity. As we are a small charity it was beyond our ability. With a little research and a phone call to the amazing team at TLC for Kids, who were already running this program in Victoria. I knew we had to do all we could to help make this possible here in SA. And….. here it is, ready to help support families, access trips to and from hospital appointments or transport to the Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation Laklinyeri beach house or truly heart felt memory making special outings. I was surprised last week when I first saw the vehicle, I burst into tears and didn’t stop crying for two days!!! We are so excited to share and show you how fantastic it looks. ( and it’s even better in real life, TLC have thought of everything) Get ready to see it on the road, make sure you give a wave to say hi to the volunteer drivers from SA Ambulance Service Huge thank you to Tim Conolan AM and Ana Darras AM from TLC for Kids for making this dream come to life. Our hearts our full ❤️ #philanthropy #charity #palliative #families
