World-leading experts in hearing, listening and spoken language therapy.

About us

We know every child can reach their full potential. We work with families and other medical professionals to achieve the best outcomes for deaf children through a combination of early diagnosis, the most advanced hearing technology and auditory-verbal therapy, where we teach children to listen and speak. Our team work with children of all ages – from Early Intervention after newborn hearing screening, through to our school screening program Hear to Learn, and beyond. Our therapy model works with the needs of the whole child, including occupational therapy. Thousands of children, young adults and families benefit from our programs and services each year, achieving great outcomes (100% of children in our Early Intervention Program moved into mainstream schools in 2017). It takes up to six years to teach one profoundly deaf child to learn to listen and speak. This means we must rely on a mix of funding, including fundraising events and activities, and the generous support of our donors and partners so all young children have the opportunity to Hear, Say and Live. The strength of Hear and Say lies in our community, and we would love for you to get involved in our work, and share in the wonderful stories of our children. Hear and Say is a charity based in Queensland with centres in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton, Townsville, and a Telepractice program for rural and remote children.

  • Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science! 🦋 As we celebrate this day, we’re proud to congratulate our esteemed alumna, Dr. Jillian Ash, once again for her outstanding achievement in receiving the Breaking Barriers STEM Award last year. Dr. Ash is a pioneering social scientist whose work sits at the intersection of social impact, infrastructure development, and energy transition. By collaborating across sectors—from mining and transport to water and renewable energy—she ensures that major projects deliver real social value and support communities across Queensland, with a particular focus on marginalised groups. Her success is a powerful testament to the extraordinary outcomes our alumni can achieve when empowered by the generous support of our donors. Congratulations, Dr. Ash, and thank you for inspiring us all to break barriers in STEM! #WomenInScience #InternationalDayOfWomenAndGirlsInScience #STEM

  • 🔊 Tinnitus Awareness Week 🔊 Tinnitus—often described as ringing, buzzing, or hissing in the ears—is a condition that many experience but few talk about. For some, it’s a minor annoyance, but for others, it can disrupt sleep, concentration, and overall well-being. Despite being so common, tinnitus remains widely misunderstood. While there’s no cure, support and management strategies can make a big difference. At Hear and Say’s Ashgrove centre, our expert audiologists provide personalised advice and assessments to help manage its effects and improve quality of life. If you or someone you know is struggling with persistent ear noise, seeking support can be life-changing. 💙#TinnitusAwarenessWeek #TinnitusSupport #HearingHealth
