Care about your health and the food you put in your body? Want information to make good choices? So do we. Heartward recently supported Food Standards Australian New Zealand with cross Tasman qualitative research about sugars labelling on packaged foods. Yesterday Food Standards Australia New Zealand published our report in support of new moves to improve front and back-of-pack nutrition information labelling and alcohol labelling - according to the media release, this will be the first holistic review for the nutritional information panel in a generation. Looking forward to seeing how nutrition information labelling can be further optimised to support informed choice. https://lnkd.in/g4vywF58 #nutritionlabelling #consumerchoice

From our research, early childhood educators love what they do, and deeply care about the children they care for. The least we can do is offer a living wage
There are wins, and there are WINS. News today that the Anthony Albanese government will fund a 15% pay increase for early childhood educators is the latter. It’s a tour de force. A hard-fought, wholly-deserving, nation-building leap forward that has been decades in the making. It is a win from every vantage point. Whether you have children or not, you stand to benefit from the education and development of children being supported. You stand to benefit from communities flourishing, productivity lifting and inequity shrinking. A wage increase for early educators underpins all of this and more. In my four years as CEO of The Parenthood I've barely had a conversation with a parent, politician, educator, journalist, advocate or economist that hasn’t touched on the need for a meaningful pay rise for early childhood educators. In the realm of this campaign four years isn’t a long time. But I feel immensely proud knowing that for the past four years we haven’t missed an opportunity, in any forum, to shout from the rooftops about the importance of this workforce being paid and valued appropriately. Alongside the unions, the sector, educators themselves, our fellow advocates, feminists, economists and so many more I am proud to have helped get this win delivered. Parents know the immense value of early childhood education to their children and families. This announcement is profound recognition of the essential contribution that early educators and teachers make to our communities. https://lnkd.in/gmS244rA

Holistic medical care at mid life for women born with ovaries? Workplace education? Women's mental health clinics? Education for men about the menopausal transition? Choice and information for women? Peer workforces? Better health research with women? Addressing stigma? Off to a good start at the Canberra public hearing for the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs - Issues related to menopause and perimenopause. Heartward is there in person (and online) - the benefit of having one of us in Canberra.

Whatever sector we're in, it's often said that we neglect the very thing we help others with, either in ourselves or in our business. So too for us at Heartward. We may have spent most of our adult lives exploring for our clients how to communicate to greatest effect, or how to ensure external representations match the original intent, but as small business people, our own business can get left behind. Too much time working in the business, rather than on it. To celebrate our 5th birthday and our 6th year of operation, we are currently refreshing the way we show ourselves to the outside world. Its time. After navigating COVID only 14 months after we started, it's time. After having our heads down to grow our business, it's time. After evolving and finessing what we do, it's time. Time to grow up a little. To value our own organisation as much as we value the wonderful work of the organisations we work with. Who better to partner with us on this again, than the talented Zoë Scott :) And it starts with a refreshed colour palette. We've dropped one colour and added two. Given what’s happening in the world, granted this may seem surface, flippant even. But if you are going to run a business, it’s hard work, but it can be fun too. Goodness knows we all need some fun. Do you like it?

As social researchers, the most rewarding part is seeing our efforts and the voices of those who participate in research put to use for social benefit. We are so excited that Gender Compass is a finalist in the Philanthropy Australia 2024 awards. The untapped potential of this tool going forward is immense, and the more people that know about it, and collaborate to apply it, the better! Thanks to Rebecca Huntley, Susanne Legena and Sawsan Alfayadh for inviting us along for the ride https://lnkd.in/ga9c_rzJ

This International Women's Day, we are celebrating the strong network of women and women-led businesses we are fortunate to work with and alongside in our industry. But we also know there are still many obstacles to women's full economic empowerment, even in Australia -- including a lack of awareness of the inequality -- impacting women's ability to learn, earn and lead. https://lnkd.in/gcciuknp #CountHerIn #IWD2024

So happy to be involved in this important work to support the youngest members of our communities!
As part of our recent Work and Play report, we spoke to 1000 families, parents, and caregivers about the work of early childhood professionals. At a time when there's a real focus on the early childhood sector and making sure every child has access to high-quality programs, we want everyone to know, that families, caregivers, teachers, and educators, are the key to a thriving system. Hear more from the Front Project's Strategic Policy Advisor, Martel Menz.
