Next week - 8 March is International Women’s Day - a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. The theme for this year is: For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment. Collectively, we can Accelerate Action for gender equality. The #HRIA is holding a webinar for all members on Friday 7th March at 1pm (Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne). This year's webinar will focus on resilience as a tool for driving progress and accelerating action. Women who manage stress effectively and build resilience are better equipped to step into leadership roles, advocate for change, and take decisive action in their careers and lives.  Our guest speaker is Michele Sayers. Michelle is a sought-after speaker and transformation coach who has dedicated her career to helping professionals and executives overcome emotional barriers, master their mindset and create lasting habits for optimal health and transformation. What a day we had at the #HRIA Women in Hire and Young Professionals Development Programs at Manitou in Australia in Sydney last week. BE DARING was the focus for #HRIA Women in Hire Workshop while our Young Professionals explored Self Awareness. We had tears, laughter, lots of amazing conversation, dancing, glow sticks and even confetti! If you are not a part of these brilliant programs you really are missing out. Workshop 4 is about being daring, being authentic and being aware - it really was a special day for all involved. Thank you to the brilliant Manelle Merhi for talking with such passion on being daring. Thank you to Tom Lynch for stepping up in the Young Professionals Workshop (and also being brave enough to stick around for the Women in Hire Workshop). And thanks to Peta Twyman and our other mentees for sharing their stories so bravely. Over 3 million Australian’s are living with anxiety or depression. Those within the hire and rental industry are not immune. In fact, considering the number of small and medium sized businesses, as well as the industry being a male dominated one, this is one of the largest social issues facing those working within our industry. One of our committee members Nathan Turner from Onsite Rental Group is organising the 2025 Gold Coast Spoke to a Bloke Walk for a Bloke and we wanted to share. This event will take place on 22nd March 2025, with participants walking 25km from Surfers Paradise to the iconic Coolangatta Hotel in Coolangatta Beach. 🌊💙 This year, Nathan's goal is to raise $7,000—every dollar going directly to support the life-changing programs that Spoke to a Bloke provides, helping men during their most vulnerable moments. 2025 is off and running and we kicked off our #HRIA Young Professionals Development Program Workshop 4 in QLD last week exploring Self Awareness. As always, Aileen H. and Sarah Farfalla facilitated the session with a mix of theory and practical discussions which provided some amazing insights. BE DARING was the focus for #HRIA Women in Hire Workshop 4, and our QLD Mentees certainly embraced this topic!  Guest presenter Niky Hamilton provided an authentic recounting of her journey and subsequent learnings. With a presentation featured insightful theory and a healthy dose of audience participation, our QLD mentees learnt practical strategies to “Be Daring”.  The session culminated in a display in Daring, with Shannen Wardrop stepping out of the comfort zone in delivering a “walk around” of one of Conplant Pty Ltd’s compactors to the whole Women in Hire QLD group. #HRIA CEO James Oxenham National President Jeremy Shaw and Commercial Manager Martin Sinclair have just returned from the US where they attended the The ARA Show in Las Vegas. Great to see the other Australian's at the show as well as catch up with our friends from the American Rental Association, the Canadian Rental Association as well as many supplier members. And congratulations to Peter L. for receiving the ARA Hall of Fame Award. Following the show we were joined by some extra Aussie's in attendance for some rental (or hire to us) company visits on a road trip back to LA, prior to heading home. It was great to follow in the footsteps of the pioneers of the Australian hire industry who back in the 1960's went on fact finding trips to the US and brought back with them new ideas and new products to help them grow their hire companies.
