In this session we'll discuss how in general practice, current recommendations for travel vaccinations depend on the patient's destination, personal health, and planned activities. It's important to counsel patients on the protection these vaccines provide against diseases common in travel, emphasising how vaccination reduces the risk of severe illness. Patients should also be guided in evaluating the risks and benefits of vaccinations for seasonally affected diseases, such as influenza. Reflecting on current travel medicine practices may help identify areas for improvement, such as enhancing patient education and ensuring timely vaccination.
