  • With the Spring Racing Carnival in full swing, we were excited to recently host many of our valued Insurer Partners for a special event to celebrate the ‘race that stops the nation’.   The 18-carat gold Lexus Melbourne Cup Trophy was on hand for a white glove photo opportunity, and the audience was captivated by a Q&A with two-time Melbourne Cup winning jockey, Corey Brown.   Corey talked about his experience as a young apprentice, how he dealt with the heartbreak of a second-place finish in the Melbourne Cup, and the surreal feeling as he crossed the line during his winning rides in the Melbourne Cup.   Horse Racing is part of the Howden DNA, and we are a proud partner of the Victoria Racing Club, so we were thrilled to bring our partners together to share this unique experience and foster lasting relationships. A big thank you to everyone who joined us for a special evening - it was one to remember! #Howden #NoLimits #MelbourneCup #Equine

  • A huge thank you to Bond University and Alan Patching for inviting Jacqui Milson to join your psychosocial risk panel this week. They were joined by Anisha Alluri from WorkCover Queensland, Judy Wood from the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Michelle Koripas from the Office of Industrial Relations and shared insights into applying evidence-based practice in implementing Psychosocial Risk Management.   The session brought together representatives from various businesses around Australia, all tasked with the challenge of creating safer systems of work. Key take aways from the day: ◼ The benefits of multi-approaches to hazard identification including the people at work survey that has now reached over 130,000 responses Australia wide ◼ The importance of end to end leadership commitment in supporting workforce consultation ◼ Reinforcing a hierarchy of control model to assess the strength of the interventions you apply   #PeopleFirst #WorkplaceWellbeing #PsychosocialSafety #Howden

  • Rising stress and anxiety related to digital technology advancement and digital change fatigue is on the rise.   Advancing technology such as generative AI, rising cyber security challenges, and requirement for data protection have formed the perfect storm in relation to a new health and wellbeing crisis within IT teams.   The pressure to keep abreast of new systems and applications that advance the organisation, product or service coupled with the rising need to protect the systems and data from cyber attacks is causing CIO’s and IT teams to burn out and not be able to progress these organisations as their executives and boards might expect.   Rising digital fatigue is also expanding outside IT teams and impacts the entire organisation, particularly within HR teams, risk teams, executive teams, and boards. The resulting effects are increased stress, burn out, increased leave, insurance claims, delayed project implementation, increased cyber vulnerabilities, failure to meet strategic goals, and lost competitive advantage.   Digital change fatigue is a growing risk that requires proactive management across a number of organisational teams.
