📢 Exciting news! The Australian Federal Government's Digital Transformation Agency has just released a new "AI in Government Policy," set to take effect on September 1st. Here’s a snapshot of the policy: a) Every Federal agency (and Corporate Commonwealth entities, excluding National Security) MUST appoint a dedicated person or committee chair responsible for AI. b) Each agency MUST publish a Transparency Statement detailing their AI adoption and usage strategy. But here’s the twist: - The appointed AI leader must be in place by November 30th this year (yes, that’s in the next 90 days). - The Transparency Statement needs to be published by February 28, 2025 (giving you 180 days, including the holiday season). This policy will likely trigger a rush within federal ranks. Here's what we might expect: 1) A significant demand for senior AI professionals will create a tight job market, driving salaries higher. 2) State Governments may soon follow suit, potentially leading to similar initiatives in Local Government (Australia has 537 Local Government Areas!). 3) Large and medium-sized businesses serving the government will need to adapt, as new AI leaders demand better insight into AI integration across their supply chains. Buckle up, Australia—big changes are on the horizon! 🚀

Well before chat GPT was launched, I was working with a team to experiment with different uses for this new technology. My focus as always was on Human Centred Design and how AI technology can augment humans, not replace them. What do you think - could this work ? Here an example : Problem : Due to hiring criteria applicants can ve excluded from great jobs . companies could be overlooking great talent, resulting in the same types of people being hired .
