It’s official, the #1 Winery in Australia is in the Hunter Valley 🍷 A massive congratulations to Tyrrell's Wines who have been named Australia’s #1 Winery in the highly regarded Halliday Wine Companion Top 100 Wineries 2024. The Top 100 recognises and celebrates the very best producers of Australian wine. Congratulations also to Mount Pleasant Wines, the second Hunter Valley producer in the top 10 and to Lakes Folly, Brokenwood Wines, De Iluiis Wines, Silkman Wines and Pooles Rock Wines for their inclusion in this prestigious list. In 2024, the Hunter Valley has seen outstanding success. Today’s news sees Hunter Valley producers recognised this year for both Halliday Companion Winemaker of the year for Liz Silkman and Top 100 Winery of the year for Tyrrell’s and is a true testament to the world-class wines being crafted in our region. The awards also recognise 27 Hunter Valley wineries as 5-star Australian wineries.🥂 Here's to the generations of passion, innovation, and hard work that’s gone into every drop. Congratulations 👏

Not that we weren’t watching but V25 is sneaking up quickly in the Hunter Valley. An impromptu vineyard visit turned into an unplanned sampling run today. I suspect we’re about 10-12 days from kicking off and fruit is looking fantastic. Last night Hunter Valley Wine & Tourism Association held our AGM at Spicers Guesthouse, Salter Brothers Hospitality. A strong turnout from industry to reflect on the year and the priorities moving forward. Alisdair Tulloch of Aeon Wines and Keith Tulloch Wines was elected as our inaugural Youth Advisor; this is a new position recognising the importance of the next generation of leaders in the Hunter Valley and continuing our commitment to building a sustainable future for the Hunter Valley's wine and tourism sectors. Congratulations, Alisdair. Karin Adcock, Philip Hele, OAM and Andrew Margan were all re-elected to the Board and we thank them, and President Chris Tyrrell, Vice-President Sasha Degen and our current Board members, for their work in helping to set our strategic goals, review key initiatives and advocate for the interest of our members. We share our congratulations to Christina Tulloch of Tulloch Wines for her award as the 2023 NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development Graham Gregory Award. Christina has made an enormously positive contribution to the Hunter Valley and the industry as a whole and becomes the second female recipient of the Graham Gregory. The Award recognises outstanding contributions to the wine industry and the panel this year rewarded not just Christina's leadership and contribution to her wine business and region, but her contribution to the broader wine and tourism sectors across NSW and Australia, including her time as President of the Hunter Valley Wine & Tourism Association.
