Acting Commissioner Ben Broyd welcomes the appointment of Mr Sam Abbott KC as Inspector of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), the Office for Public Integrity (OPI) and Ombudsman SA. Mr Broyd said, “The Inspector’s independent reviews ensure transparency and public confidence in South Australia’s integrity agencies. Mr Abbott is a highly experienced and respected legal practitioner, and I look forward to his contribution in this important role”.

Yesterday the Commission’s Integrity State 2023/24 report was tabled in Parliament (https://bit.ly/3YtB7zW). It provides an overview of some corruption prevention recommendations made to public authorities as a result of investigations by the Commission during the 2023/24 financial year. Helping agencies understand where they are vulnerable to corruption is an important part of the Commission’s work. This report identifies poorly managed conflicts of interests as an ongoing corruption risk and highlights the dangers they pose in the management of Human Resources.
