Exciting News for Burnie! I am thrilled to announce the grand opening of our newest Chemist Discount Centre in Burnie, Tasmania! This fantastic new store is our 48th store in the CDC community and is here to deliver accessible, personalised healthcare and unbeatable value to the Burnie community. Having Burnie Councillor giovanna simpson officially cut the ribbon and mark this exciting milestone was an honour. I was also delighted to see such strong support from our team, including Nina Allen (IPA National Project Manager), Bradley Miller (CDC Operations Manager), Mick Budd (IPA PBM), and representatives from Arrotex Pharmaceuticals, VidaCorp, The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, and Australian Pharmaceutical Industries (API). We’re celebrating the opening today with the local community, offering free face painting, balloon animals, donuts, cookies, and giveaways, creating a fun and memorable day for everyone! I’m incredibly proud of the Burnie team and look forward to seeing them serve their community with the care and dedication that defines the CDC brand. This is the first of many in Tasmania! This commitment was exemplified at the recent Independent Pharmacies of Australia Group (IPA) Member Summit, where we proudly raised $44,000 for the Fullife Foundation, continuing our decade-long partnership dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of women and children in underserved African communities. Founded by IPA member and independent pharmacy owner Ian Shanks, the Fullife Foundation addresses critical health challenges, providing clean water, life-saving birthing kits, and immunisation programs to combat preventable diseases. These initiatives not only save lives but also create opportunities for long-term community health and empowerment. During visits to Africa, I’ve seen the tough realities people face—preventable illnesses and poverty impacting so many lives. It’s inspiring to see the real difference our partnership makes, from saving mothers’ lives to bringing hope for a healthier future. This progress reflects the incredible generosity of our members and partners, all working together to improve community health.
