    We're happy to share that IHAT participated in the 18th Asia Pacific Congress of Pediatrics, between 14-17 November, 2024 in Cebu, Phillipines. The theme of the conference was "Redesigning the Horizon of Pediatric Healthcare in the Asia Pacific.". Dr Deep Thacker, Deputy Director - Immunization, presented on “Vaccine Access: Maximizing Equity, Minimizing Disparity”, sharing the learnings from UP TSU's Routine Immunization intervention, highlighting the collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh in strengthening its immunization program. Dr Thacker was also invited as a faculty in a pre-conference workshop "Vaccinnology Masterclass" organized by the Immunization Partners in Asia Pacific, where he talked on "Fundamentals of Vaccine Development - Safety, Efficacy and Effectiveness." We’re delighted to see IHAT’s impactful contributions to improving #MaternalNewbornChildHealth (MNCH) showcased on such a global platform, reinforcing our commitment to equity-driven healthcare solutions. #publichealth #swasthbharat #immunization #vaccinations

    IHAT participated in the International Conference on Population and Development: Navigating Challenges and Exploring Opportunities, held on 18-20th November 2024, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. During the panel discussion on "Transforming Health System and Well-being of Indian Population", our team members from IHAT-UP TSU shared valuable insights into our work in Uttar Pradesh. Dr Renu Srivastava, Strategy Director, Newborn and Child Health, discussed building resilient health systems to achieve population-level health and well-being, with a special focus on RMNCH. Dr Ravi Prakash, Director, Monitoring, Evaluation and Research, augmented the discussion by presenting the approach adopted by IHAT-UPTSU in their work to ensure that services are accessed in an equitable manner in Uttar Pradesh.     The State Technical Support Unit for Tuberculosis (STSU TB), Uttar Pradesh, presented its research, including four abstracts, at the hashtag#UnionLungConference 2024 in Indonesia. STSU-TB's efforts to support the State TB Cell in Uttar Pradesh received widespread recognition for their innovative approaches. These included advancing TB detection by enhancing private sector engagement, which improved TB notification and public health actions. The team also expanded the availability, access and use of molecular diagnostics in the public sector and fostered multi-sectoral collaboration to strengthen TB care. #Tuberculosis #TBCare #Research #UttarPradesh #TBDetection

    NSCB Medical College Jabalpur, MGM Medical College Indore, and GMC Bhopal recently hosted a 3-day training program for specialists and medical officers under the RRTC program, supported by IHAT. This training aimed to strengthen the workforce in First Referral Units (FRUs) across peripheral districts. The training helps healthcare workers in early identification of complications, timely interventions, optimised pre-referral care, adherence to the latest health guidelines, and collaborative knowledge sharing, and aims to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes and reduce preventable deaths. #Maternalhealth #Neonatalhealth #madhyapradesh #publichealth #capacitybuilding #healthcare

    Delighted to share that India's Narrative on reducing neonatal and maternal mortality is now live on the Exemplars in Global Health platform! This is part of a collaborative effort, led by the Exemplars in Global Health team in partnership with the National Health Systems Resource Centre, India Health Action Trust, University of ManitobaInternational Institute for Population Sciences, Countdown to 2030 for Women's Children's and Adolescents' Health and other key partners. The narrative explores the key factors, interventions, policies, and programs that have contributed to India's significant decline in neonatal and maternal mortality. By examining the initiatives that drove these outcomes, this narrative highlights opportunities for learning and scaling proven strategies from India's success, with the goal of achieving lasting improvements in maternal and neonatal health.     IHAT participated in the 27th Annual State Conference of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (UP-Uttarakhand Chapter) IAPSMUPUKCON 2024 held in Haldwani. Our team was part of a distinguished panel that discussed "Strengthening and Building Resilient Health Systems: Innovations, Challenges, and Learnings." Moderated by Dr. Gunjan Taneja, Senior Program Officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The panel included Dr. Ravi Prakash, Director of Monitoring, Evaluation & Research, UPTSU; Dr. Shweta Jindal, Chief of Party, Uttar Pradesh Health Systems Strengthening Project, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHU); Dr. Aurpit Patnaik, State Lead, Uttar Pradesh, PATH; Dr. Bhawna Bakshi, State Program Manager, Uttar Pradesh, Jhpiego; Dr. Ayushi Agrawal, Project Lead, JSI; and Mr. Dheeraj Sonkhiya, Team Leader, Supply Chain, India Health Action Trust (IHAT).     IHAT-UP TSU, Oxford Policy Management and Quicksand Design Studio collaborated to organise a GenderCollab summit on Learning and Measurement on 17th and 18th September. The summit brought together 21 organisations and experts working across India to advance gender intentionality in the health sector. UPTSU’s initiatives on gender integration for health systems strengthening and improving provider care were presented at the summit. Through a workshop conducted by Dr Maya Mascarenhas, Head of the Social, Corporate and Development office, St Johns National Academy of Health Sciences and panel discussions, the collective reflected on the challenges and solutions for developing MEL indicators for gender-integrated health programmes. #GenderCollabSummit #healthsystems #gender #workshop

    The Maternal and Newborn Health Exemplars India Study: Maharashtra was disseminated today in Mumbai. The event brought together leading experts and dignitaries from the National Health Mission, Maharashtra, National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), Govt. of India, Department of Public Health and Family Welfare, Govt of Maharashtra, International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai (IIPS), India Health Action Trust (IHAT), University of Manitoba (UoM) and Exemplars in Global Health. Dr Babita Kamlapurkar, Joint Director, Family Welfare, Govt. of Maharashtra, gave the welcome address. Dr. K. Madan G., Advisor PHA, NHSRC, Govt. of India, presented a national perspective of MNH Exemplar Study to the audience. Dr. Hemkhothang Lhungdim, Director & Sr Professor, IIPS Mumbai, gave the Maharashtra State perspective of the Exemplar Study. Dr. Nitin Ambadekar, Director Health Service Family Welfare, Govt. of Maharashtra, delivered the keynote address, setting the stage for the day's insightful presentations and discussions. The event was followed by technical presentations by Dr Shajy, Managing Trustee, IHAT; Dr Ravi Prakash, Director M&E and Research; Dr Manoj, Alagarajan, Associate Professor, IIPS; and Dr Usha Ram, Research & Technical Specialist (IGPH-UoM). The plenary sessions were chaired by Dr K. Madan Gopal and co-chaired by Dr Suneeta Krishnan, Deputy Director, Strategy, Planning & Management, Measurement & Evaluation, India Country Office, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Several district health authorities from Maharashtra took part in the event, where the panellists discussed state priorities, challenges, and the roadmap for implementing effective maternal and newborn health strategies.
