The beginning of #2025 has delivered a stark reminder that extreme fire conditions are no longer rare events. The devastating fires in Los Angeles highlight how climate change is intensifying fire behaviour, pushing beyond past experiences and straining emergency response capabilities. As a global company based in #Hobart, we know firsthand the reality of living in a highly fire-prone city. Hobart’s proximity to rugged bushland and extreme weather conditions makes it uniquely vulnerable to fast-moving bushfires. We can’t stop fires from happening, but we can help stop them from becoming catastrophes. Early detection using AI-driven fire solutions, like Fire Foresight, is an important piece of the puzzle. Why Technology-driven Fire Detection Matters: - 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: AI-enabled cameras identify smoke in its earliest stages, alerting emergency managers before flames spread out of control. - 𝟮𝟰/𝟳 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: Continuous surveillance ensures fire risks are detected at any time, even in remote or high-risk areas. - 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: Integrating real-time weather data, fuel moisture levels, and AI-based analytics ensures fire crews have the right information at the right time. - 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀: Technology like Fire Foresight provides critical early warning in high-risk zones, helping keep communities, infrastructure, and the environment safe. Given the changing conditions caused by climate change, fire risk is only increasing. Technology alone won’t stop fires, but when used as part of a multi-layered approach, AI-driven cameras provide a vital first line of defence—helping emergency services respond faster and smarter. We’re on the ground, we’re local, we have a proven early fire detection solution, and we’re ready to help protect Hobart and other fire-prone communities. INDICIUM DataBus Cloud
Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Software
The INDICIUM DataBus is a time-series optimised Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) designed to provide an easy to configure and manage platform for the exchange of data between technology domains. The complexities of integrating with a variety of different technologies in both domains has been simplified into easy to configure plugins leveraging existing standards and interfaces. With modern Information Technology (IT) concepts like machine learning and artificial intelligence, an organisation's data has become more valuable than ever before. The biggest hurdle for organisations is how to get the data they already have, to somewhere where they can start to build value from that data. Operational Technology (OT), like SCADA systems and Building Management System have existed in one form or another for decades, and provide the robust monitoring and control that keeps industry ticking over. Integration of these two worlds becomes extremely easy with the DataBus.

🔥 Protecting Communities and Critical Infrastructure from Bushfire 🔥 We’re excited to announce a new partnership between Indicium Dynamics, Goldwind Australia and Sustainable Timber Tasmania to deliver our Fire Foresight Solution to Brady’s Fire Tower in Tasmania’s Central Highlands. In a first for #Tasmania, Goldwind Australia has funded the deployment of Fire Foresight technology to protect communities and nation-building infrastructure, including wind farms and transmission networks - a significant investment via its proposed Bashan Wind Farm development. This camera joins Indicium’s high-tech, AI-driven fire detection network, which now includes 10 cameras actively monitoring across Tasmania to enhance early bushfire detection and response. 🔹 How it works: Our AI-powered system operates 24/7/365 to monitor for signs of smoke, providing real-time alerts to help contain fires before they escalate. 🔹 Why it matters: With bushfire risks increasing this summer, early detection is critical for protecting Tasmania’s landscapes, infrastructure, and remote communities like Dee, which recently faced devastating fires. At Indicium Dynamics, we strive to utilise technology to improve social and environmental outcomes, and we’re thrilled to be working in partnership with two great organisations that also share these values. Records are meant to be broken! After some recent maintenance on our very first LoRaWAN gateway, we began to notice some additional connections to that gateway. Upon further investigation, we discovered that a weather station on the Tasman Peninsula was successfully connecting over 138km. Delving deeper, we found that the same weather station was also communicating with a gateway on the east coast, 161km away, and our latest gateway deployment on Mt. Arthur at an impressive 196km. Our old 68km record has truly been shattered. #digitalforests LORIOT #lorawan IoT Alliance Australia Harry Fiotakis Jamie Lawrence Mike Ross Rob Vernon

A fantastic read from The Quoin Journal about building a modern sensor network to monitor and protect their unique Tasmanian landscape. This article beautifully highlights how real-time monitoring technologies can uncover the quiet workings of an environment—insights that might otherwise go unnoticed leading to missed insights and understandings. We’re proud to partner on this project, supporting the deployment of a sensor network that enables data-driven decision-making in challenging and remote environments.
Rain gauges and thermometers aren’t new... But these traditional ways of measuring nature had two limitations. 1. They had no memory of their own. 2. People had to go to the instruments to take measurements and record them. A modern sensor network overcomes these limitations. At our living laboratory The Quoin, we have six pairs of sensors permanently in the field. Learn more: https://buff.ly/4fy4pVq In three locations, we pair a weather station with a soil moisture sensor. And in three other locations, a combined temperature/humidity/CO2 sensor is paired with a fuel moisture sensor. This means, instead of us checking a rain gauge every morning, or a thermometer every hour, we get data every 15 minutes, day and night, in a centralised location for storage and analysis. This sensor network helps us to learn the rhythms and patterns of the landscape and make good decisions. #naturetech
